We are seeking two Leaders for our Skeletal Muscle Biology or Islet Biology Departments.
The position
As Head of Islet Biology or Skeletal Muscle Biology, you will lead the development and implementation of operational strategy within Islet Biology or Skeletal Muscle Biology in accordance with the Type 2 Diabetes Therapy Areas strategy. Moreover, you will lead a team of innovative, driven, and talented scientists addressing Skeletal Muscle or Islet Biology and work towards identifying, validating and progressing molecular targets within disease areas. You will be expected to define and execute externalisation strategies to leverage academic and commercial partnerships towards pipeline delivery.
You will join a newly established and highly collaborative leadership team within metabolic diseases research, responsible for executing and delivering on our Diabetes and Obesity strategies. With your solid background in leadership and metabolic disease, together with the team you will define and execute the operational strategy within Skeletal Muscle or Islet Biology to deliver and drive novel targets in the portfolio.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Qualifications
You hold a Ph.D. degree in human biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or closely related discipline, with 10+ years of experience working with research, biotech, or industry within the area of Obesity and/or Diabetes. Prior leadership experience is required.

About the area
Metabolic Disease Research is part of the Obesity, Diabetes and MASH Therapy Area in Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S. Currently, the area consists of ~40 employees across 3 departments. We work in a flexible, collaborative, and cross-functional setting, while keeping focus on quality and goals in an informal environment.
