Summer Internship Project Recording Firmware for Wearables)
The global New Technology & Innovation (NT&I) team is at the center of audio technology support in Harman’s innovative products. Consumer Audio Lab Denmark (CALD), the NT&I Denmark team, is seeking a talented and motivated student to join us for a three-month project on building a Recording Firmware for Wearables.
Description:
Spatial audio creates a three-dimensional sound experience to users, mimicking how sound is perceived in the real world. It enhances the enjoyment of movies, music, and other audio content. Therefore, spatial audio has been gaining more and more attentions within the audio industry, and it has become a popular feature in modern audio devices.
In this project, we focus on multichannel audio recording aiming to capture perceptually relevant aspects of an audio scene given constraints on the hardware capability for wearable devices.
The goal of this project is to build a recording firmware that make recordings using an array with eight microphones where the recordings are stored onto an SD card on EPS32. The main tasks involved in this project are listed as follows.
Build the hardware connecting microphones to ESP32 and PCM1840 (with support from Electrical Engineering team). ESP32 programming. Acoustic experiment, e.g., impulse responses of each microphone.
The project will be performed in Kvistgård and is expected to run through the summer 2024. You will work closely with an Engineering Fellow at HARMAN based in Germany.
