You will play an important role in:

You will be a part of a support function responsible for developing new oil solutions for our future engines running on green fuel and the existing engines. As an Lubrication Oil Senior Research Engineer, you must ensure a communicative and analytic approach to oil companies and our R&D colleagues.

Examples of your work task are following:

• Determine the strategy for cylinder lubrication together with the oil group and the cylinder condition group.
• Be responsible for and run our oil laboratory.
• Assist with failure analysis on tribological systems.
• Responsible for Tribometer operation - Identify tests to be run at our Tribometer.
• Specify lubrication oil for bearings, cylinder liner/piston rings and sealing oil in our fuel valve, plus hydraulic (system) oil.
• Coordinate tests and make setup test procedures with oil industry and internal colleagues in new design development and operation department.
• Coordinate and evaluate lube tests on our test engines.
• You will have a very close collaboration with our fuel oil experts and our design department.

Are self-driven with an analytic approach and that you have the ability to develop good and effective long term solutions related to our lubrication oils. In this matter we seek a person with good communication skills and a high level of professionalism due to our high degree of collaboration with our designers. We hope you will take an active part of the social environment with our colleagues. The role also involves maintaining an overview of design processes and assignment planning.

Furthermore we imagine that you:

• Hold a degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or similar.
• Have experience in lubricating hot components
• Have experience with oil chemistry (additives)
• Has experience or knowledge regarding materials and coatings tribology

Additionally, it will be an advantage if you:

• Have experience with sealing oil and sealings (polymers and elastomers)
• Have experience with cooling water inhibitors
• Have experience with hydraulic oil

You will get 8 great colleagues based at MAN Energy Solutions' Danish head office in the South Harbor of Copenhagen. The department is very diverse, we come from all parts of the world, as the rest of the company, which is why the language is English. We have close collaboration with our designers regarding material selection and failure analysis.We need to expand this support function to cover the lubrication field to ensure that our engines continue to run reliable in the future and to reach our decarbonization goals. This includes setting up and running tests on our tribometer. You will be working in a department with modern metallurgical laboratory equipment as well as an oil laboratory with XRF, titrator and BN measurement, which is also used by our fuel oil experts. Investing in new laboratory equipment is possible if you have some good ideas.
