Job description

As a Data Scientist in our Analytics team, you will collaborate with power engineers, IT specialists and application developers gathering insights and driving innovation to improve our processes. Your role will involve interpreting and analyzing data from various sources, working closely with engineers to visualize findings, and proposing solutions to complex challenges within the energy sector. The work is highly explorative and dynamic. It is therefore important that you have a proactive, innovative mindset, and are not afraid to challenge status quo and approach an issue in a new way. With a combination of programming, mathematical modeling, and data visualization skills, you will play a crucial role in shaping our approach to business challenges and in optimizing our processes and data quality.

Your primary tasks and areas of responsibility:

  • Collaborate with power engineers and IT specialists to define problem formulations for business challenges.
  • Apply expertise in data science, modelling, mathematics, statistics, and data visualization to identify potential issues and propose new ways to improve the quality of the data and the process.
  • Work together with application developers and engineers to develop tools and applications for data science, back-office, and operational support.
  • Design, together with engineers and developers, ways to visualize and communicate large amounts of complex information in a clear and easily understandable way.
  • Communicate important information and insights to engineers and IT experts, as well as to management using effective and intuitive graphical representations.
  • Identify possible data sets to solve a problem and the sources for this data.

Skills and experience

The ideal candidates will most likely have

  • A master’s degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or related field.
  • Experience working as a data scientist, preferably in a relevant industry.

Additionally, you should have:

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with C#, SQL, R and Spark are advantageous, but is not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of common machine learning libraries and algorithms.
  • Proficiency in data visualization.
  • A proactive mindset with willingness to challenge status quo and to explore new approaches.
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the energy sector and power systems are an advantage, but not a requirement.

An international and flexible working environment

You will join a team of competent, diverse and enthusiastic colleagues. We are currently 22 nationalities with more than 30% women (striving to improve this balance) and all ages. You will also at times work in teams with colleagues from the Nordic TSOs either in virtual teams or in physically.

The Data & Analytics department is a recently established department with expertise in data architecture, data science, power system engineering, and we are now hiring another data scientist to increase our ability to deliver data insight and quality improvement to our services. It is a small department with a young, enthusiastic, and curious team with an informal work atmosphere, where you can be sure to make an impact.

Your daily workplace will be in our newly furnished office premises in Copenhagen Towers, Ørestad. We are offering workplace flexibility to ensure a healthy work-life balance, including the possibility for working from home some of your worktime, however, to support social relation between colleagues and the collaborative nature of our work, physical presence in the office is expected most days.

Application deadline and contact information

Please apply online as soon as possible (in English) and no later than 1st of June 2024. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.

If you have any questions, please contact Håkon Haavik Nystad, Analytics team lead, at +45 61 24 44 30.
