We are looking for a Defect and Workaround Manager to join the Test and Commissioning team in the Signalling Programme, based in Copenhagen.
The Danish Signalling Programme, the largest of its kind in Europe, is replacing the current signalling system on the entire national railway with new computer-based signalling technology (ERTMS Level 2, Baseline 3). Denmark is the first European country to implement the European Railway Traffic Management System (ERTMS) on a national scale.
The project is supported by an international supplier base and consultants from across Europe. You will become a part of an international team, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
The position When designing or testing the new signalling systems in the lab or on site, it is common to find defects. These defects are registered and need to be managed until they are closed. When placing in service the new system, there are always defects that are not solved yet. In this case, we often need to define a workaround, which is an action that the people operating the system need to perform in order to prevent that the defect has an impact in operation.
As a Defect and Workaround Manager, you will dive into specific technologies in use, in ETCS, interlocking, traffic management, train operations, telecom and IT security.
Your responsibilities:
- Oversee defect and workaround management in the Signalling programme focusing on the Onboard and the East and West Fjernbane projects. Defects and workarounds might come from issues found during testing or problems found in the operating lines.
- Coordinate communication and alignment between the different parties involved in workaround and defect management: design, testing, safety, traffic management, operations, suppliers etc.
- Manage the Defect Management and Workaround Board meetings with the relevant stakeholders.
- Assess and manage risks on commissioning lines with active defects and workarounds.
- Create, update, prioritize, follow-up (with the relevant parties) and close defects and workarounds.
- Conduct technical and usability analysis of defects and workarounds and perform testing on site or in the lab.
- Provide overview and status reports of defects and workarounds with the different parties.
As part of the job, you can expect a variety of tasks such as:
- support the design, test, safety and operation teams in the Signalling programme with different activities.
- participate or perform test activities.
- review design or test documentation from the supplier

On a personal level, we are looking for a team player with an analytical and structured approach and mindset, capable of understanding and solving both complex technical problems and railway usability aspects.
