Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademis Billedkunstskoler søger ny leder til Kunsthal Charlottenborg

Kunsthal Charlottenborg
Kunsthal Charlottenborg er beliggende i den historiske udstillingsbygning ved Charlottenborg Slot, som åbnede i 1883 efter et mangeårigt ønske fra Akademiet om at udvide og forbedre faciliteterne til de årlige udstillinger. I 2012 blev Kunsthallen en del af Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademis Billedkunstskoler og vendte dermed tilbage til sit oprindelige tilknytningsforhold til Kunstakademiet. Udstillingsbygningen fungerer i dag som et bindeled mellem Kunstakademiet, kunsten og offentligheden. Sammen med Billedkunstskolerne er Kunsthallen et centralt omdrejningspunkt for både dansk og international billedkunst.

Siden 2013 har Kunstakademiets Billedkunstskoler og Kunsthal Charlottenborg huset den nordiske kunstmesse Chart og fungerer som hovedkvarter for CPH:DOX. Aktiviteter som disse, sammen med Billedkunstskolernes årlige afgangsudstilling, Charlottenborg Forårsudstilling og Kunsthallens danske og internationale udstillingsprogram, har cementeret Kunsthallens position som en central destination i dansk kunst. I 2024 havde Kunsthallen ca. 90.000 besøgende.

Opgaver, kompetencer og kvalifikationer
Du får ansvaret for at identificere og realisere de potentialer, som Kunsthal Charlottenborg har – og kan få. Din opgave vil være at sikre, at Kunsthal Charlottenborg også i fremtiden er en naturlig destination for både dem, der er nysgerrige på samtidskunsten, og dem, der endnu ikke kender til Kunsthallen. Som leder af Kunsthal Charlottenborg vil du i tæt samarbejde med Kunstakademiets øvrige ledelse få en markant rolle i udviklingen af samtidens danske og internationale kunst, i krydsfeltet mellem Kunstakademiets uddannelser, samtidskunsten og den brede offentlighed.

I efteråret 2023 fik Kunstakademiet sin første bestyrelse, og en del af den nye kunsthalsleders opgave vil være at medvirke til at realisere Kunstakademiets nye, samlede strategi for perioden 2025-2029. Et af de strategiske mål for den kommende periode er at udvikle og samtænke Kunsthallen på tværs af institutionens mange fagligheder, kompetencer og kerneopgaver samt medvirke til at gøre Kunstakademiet til Nordeuropas førende mødested for samtidskunst.

Som leder skal du have en stærk profil med ledelseserfaring fra kunst og kulturbranchen, der gør dig i stand til at udvikle og realisere ambitiøse idéer og strategiske mål inden for de rammer, der er sat af bestyrelsen og rektor. Du er nysgerrig, lyttende og beslutsom, og du besidder det daglige overskud, der kræves for at skabe et positivt og inkluderende arbejdsmiljø, uden at gå på kompromis med de faglige mål. Derudover forventes du at have et dokumenteret dansk, nordisk og internationalt netværk, som kan bidrage til at udvikle Kunsthallen både fagligt og økonomisk.

I de kommende år vil nogle af de væsentligste opgaver for Kunsthallen være:

• Organisatorisk udvikling, herunder budgetstyring og fundraising.
• Udvikling af de fysiske rammer for at understøtte fremtidige behov.
• Videreudvikling af et inddragende og ambitiøst program med fokus på dansk, nordisk og international samtidskunst.
• At styrke samarbejdet mellem uddannelse, forskning, kunstnerisk praksis og udstillingsliv.
• At berige den faglige og offentlige samtale om billedkunst.
• At gøre billedkunsten tilgængelig for alle på tværs af regionale, økonomiske og kulturelle skel.

Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademis Billedkunstskoler
Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademis Billedkunstskoler er en uddannelses- og kulturinstitution under Kulturministeriet. Kunsthallen deler, som en del af Kunstakademiets Billedkunstskoler, en lang række fælles afdelinger og funktioner med Kunstakademiets Billedkunstskoler som fx HR og jura, økonomi, løn, IT og drift. Herudover har Kunsthallen tilknyttet syv faglige medarbejdere.

Løn- og ansættelsesvilkår
Stillingen er en åremålsstilling på 5 år med mulighed for forlængelse i 3 år, og ansættelse sker på overenskomstvilkår. Løn og ansættelsesvilkår er efter overenskomst mellem staten og en række akademikerorganisationer. Du bliver indplaceret som chefkonsulent med personaleledelse. Der er mulighed for forhandling af tillæg på baggrund af dine kvalifikationer. Det er en betingelse for ansættelse, at du kan sikkerhedsgodkendes og opretholde sikkerhedsgodkendelsen under ansættelsen.

Som kunsthalsleder forventes du at være til stede på Kunstakademiet og deltage i den daglige ledelse af institutionen.
Arbejdssproget er dansk og engelsk, mens administrationssproget er dansk, og du skal kunne virke inden for disse rammer.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Visual Arts, seeks a new director for Kunsthal Charlottenborg

We are looking for a visionary director able to reinvent and continue to develop Kunsthal Charlottenborg from its current high standard.

Kunsthal Charlottenborg
Kunsthal Charlottenborg occupies the historic exhibition building near Charlottenborg Palace and opened in 1883 following the long-standing wish of the Academy to extend and improve facilities for the annual exhibitions. In 2012, Kunsthal Charlottenborg became part of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Visual Arts, thus regaining its original link with the Academy. Today, the exhibition building brings together the Academy, art, and the public. With the Schools of Visual Arts, Kunsthal Charlottenborg is a pivotal point for Danish and international visual art.

Since 2013, the Academy’s Schools of Visual Arts and Kunsthal Charlottenborg have hosted the Scandinavian art fair Chart, and the documentary film festival CPH:DOX is now headquartered there. These activities, in combination with the Schools of Visual Arts’ annual graduation show, the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition, and the Kunsthal Charlottenborg’s Danish and international exhibition programme serve to cement its position as a central Danish art destination. In 2024, visitor numbers to Kunsthal Charlottenborg totalled around 90,000.

Tasks, competences, and qualifications
You will be responsible for identifying and realising Kunsthal Charlottenborg’s present and future potential. It will be your task to ensure that Kunsthal Charlottenborg, in the future, will continue to be a natural destination for those wanting to explore contemporary art and also for those not yet familiar with the place. As director of Kunsthal Charlottenborg, you will collaborate closely with the rest of the Academy’s managerial staff and play an important role in developing contemporary Danish and international art at the point where Academy education programmes, contemporary art, and the general public come together.

The autumn of 2023 saw the appointment of the Academy’s first a Board of Directors, and a task for the new Kunsthal director will be to help realise a new overall strategy for the Academy for the period 2025‒2029. One strategic goal for the coming period will be to develop and integrate Kunsthal Charlottenborg across the wealth of professional expertise, competences, and core tasks and work towards making the Academy the leading contemporary art venue in Northern Europe.

As a director, you will have a strong profile with managerial experience from the field of art and culture, which will enable you to develop and realise ambitious ideas and strategic goals within the framework defined by the Board of Directors and rector. You have an inquisitive disposition, you listen, and make decisions, and you have the energy required to create a positive and inclusive environment on a day-to-day basis without losing sight of the professional goals. Furthermore, you are expected to have a proven Danish, Scandinavian, and international network to help develop Kunsthal Charlottenborg in both professional and financial terms.

Over the next years, some important tasks at Kunsthal Charlottenborg will be:

• Organisational development including budgetary control and fundraising.
• Improving the physical framework to underpin future needs.
• Developing further our inclusive and ambitious programme focusing on Danish, Scandinavian, and international contemporary art.
• Strengthening the collaboration between education, research, artistic practice, and exhibition activities.
• Enriching the professional and public dialogue on visual art.
• Making visual art accessible to everyone across reginal, economic, and cultural differences.

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Visual Arts
The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, Schools of Visual Arts, is an educational and cultural institution under the Ministry of Culture Denmark. As part of the Schools of Visual Arts, Kunsthal Charlottenborg shares several departments and functions with the former, including HR and legal aspects, finance, pay, IT, and operations. In addition to this, Kunsthal Charlottenborg employs seven professional staff members.

Pay and employment terms
The position is a fixed-term appointment for five years with the option of a three-year extension, and you are appointed on a group contract basis. Pay and employment terms follow those collectively determined by the state and several academic trades unions. Your position will be chief consultant with personnel management. Negotiable allowances available based on your qualifications. Employment is contingent on you undertaking a security clearance and being able to sustain this for the duration of your employment.

As director of Kunsthal Charlottenborg, you are expected to be present at the Academy and take part in the day-to-day running of the institution.
Our working languages are Danish and English, however, the administrative language is Danish and you must be able to function within this framework.
