The position

As a leader you will report to the Vice Presidents (VP) of Biostatistics, Diabetes and NIS and be a member of a Biostatistics VP leadership team.

 

The primary responsibility will be leading a team of highly engaged statisticians and clinical data scientists across seniority levels, including:

 

  • In collaboration with your counterparts in Søborg, Aalborg as well as US and India you will be overall responsible for biostatistical deliverables used for marketing authorisation of new drugs as well as variation applications, meta-analyses, and support to marketing on marketed drugs, with projects from phase 1 to 3.

 

  • Motivating and securing competency development of the team members. Ensuring a healthy and engaging working environment

 

  • Ensuring quality in the work, continuous improvements of the team and process development will be essential.

 

  • Department budgeting

 

  • Ensure a well-functioning global organisation through collaboration with other leaders across other development functions and other biostatistics departments.

 

 

You will be able to redefine current processes and embrace new methods and working styles. Through empowerment you will nurture the full potential of the employees in both the department and Biostatistics as an area.

 

Your workplace will be in Søborg but travelling to alternative location should be expected on average 1-2 days a month.

 

Qualifications

Either, you have a strong leadership track record combined with innovation and change management or you have knowledge of biostatistics or statistical programming and a keen interest in leadership and driving innovation.

 

Key aspects to thrive and succeed:

 

  • You have several years of experience as project or line manager, where you set direction, guide, and motivate your team.
  • Knowledge of drug development and knowledge of the Biostatistics deliveries in a R&D organisation within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Talent for supervising, coaching, and mentoring of staff.
  • Exposure to an international and diverse working environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities

 

As a person you strive with a high level of complexity and have solid problem-solving capabilities. You are not afraid of working risk-based and have the courage to try out different solutions to daily operations. You have excellent collaboration and communication skills; you can collaborate at any organisational level and are fluent in English.

 

About the department

Biostatistics is part of leading product development worldwide from early development phases to product introduction and life cycle management. We ensure medical and scientific documentation for clinical submissions to authorities while ensuring that the process lives up to uniform global standards, regulations, and business ethics. 

 

The Global Biostatistics function consists of more than 400 statisticians and clinical data scientists globally with a total of 250 employees located in Denmark. Biostatistics has two sites in Denmark, one in Søborg and one in Aalborg – in total appr. 170 employees in Søborg and 80 in Aalborg. The position as head of the Biostatistics Diabetes and Non-Interventional Studies (NIS) is based in Søborg.     

 

The Søborg site currently consists of nine Biostatistics’ departments All support across our development portfolio within Diabetes, Obesity, RD&AT, cardiovascular and different serious chronic diseases. Novo Nordisk has a broad R&D pipeline and majority of our statistical work is done in-house, thus we offer a wide variety of statistical challenges and provide a strong scientific community. Currently we are also expanding our operating model to include fully outsourced tasks, hence vendor management and oversight is also part of our exciting tasks.

 

We have a global and diverse environment where you will be able to use your cross-cultural awareness and leadership skills, having Biostatistics colleagues in India, USA, China and Japan as well as our outsourcing partners in India and Europe.
