Experienced People Business Partner/ HR Business Partner for APM Terminals Nordics, Aarhus (Denmark)

Maersk is undergoing an industry-defining transformation and so is APMT Terminals. Based out of Aarhus, serving an industry with enormous impact on Danish society, as well as a being a company spearheading the technologization within the port-industry, our transformation offers a unique opportunity to impact culture, engagement, leadership as well as governance processes. Therefore, we need an experienced People Business Partner/ HR Business Partner, who will play an integral role in realizing our ambition to become a World Class Logistics Integrator and a world class Terminal.

As our new People Business Partner you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders at the terminal, working to achieve substantial business results through elevated People and leadership capabilities and ways of working. You will also be part of a local and highly experienced HR team, consisting of a People Partner, People Advisor, Payroll Specialist and an Employee Relation Specialist (Labor partner).

Together with the HR colleagues, you will recruit, train, and challenge high-performing team leaders, utilizing your strong grasp of employee and union relations, engagement, organizational development, change management, rewards and performance, talent management and leadership development.
 

In addition to being part of the local people team, you will also be a member of a Nordic people team which is well-connected to the global people function team. As APM Terminals is part of A.-P. Key Responsibilities

As an experienced People Business Partner for APM Terminals Århus, you will

  • Play a vital role in governance process design and execution, including project management, which can entail everything from employee engagement initiatives, way of working with employee (union) relations and union negotiation processes, design of on-boarding processes, internal mobility and succession planning
  • Be the most senior HR Generalist on the ground and have the oversight and mandate to coordinate prioritization of initiatives and tasks; as well as being the one to escalate to Head of HR Nordics as you see fit.
  • Enable and maintain great and engaged cooperation among the local HR team and ensuring to deliver as a team
  • Act as a reliable, stimulating partner to senior leaders and support their strategic global agenda for achieving business results. Translating business strategies into people strategies and action plans: identifying and closing capability gaps, optimizing organizational structure for performance, - translating global strategies/projects into local plans to achieve high engagement
  • Drive cultural change, change management and talent management in partnership with leaders to achieve organizational effectiveness: advising on long-term talent strategy and ensuring succession pipeline; fostering a culture of high performance
  • Coach and advise senior leaders: diagnosing people and business challenges and supporting leadership discussion around development, organization structure and design.
  • Participate in global Product and HR initiatives and projects, ensuring that the people perspective and agenda are woven into our strategy.
  • Act as an ambassador for our employees and commit to ensuring the delivery of an exceptional employee experience

As our People Business Partner, you are driven to achieve results through patience, firmness, structure, and relationships. You will act as both a driver of projects and initiatives, and as dependable team player who enjoys building partnerships and serving as a role model embodying exceptional HR business values and practices.

    The ideal candidate has the following competencies and experience: 

  • Experience in working within the field of HR in Denmark
  • Broad HR toolbox and background, enabling you to understand, scope, translate and adapt global HR tools and practices into regional and local scope.
  • Project management experience to successfully lead the development and/ or implementation of new processes, tools, standards, etc.
  • Experience from working in a Nordic or Global organization, being familiar on how to naturally collaborate locally but also across borders. Experience from working in a People position within a global matrix organization would be of advantage.
  • Resilience and maturity in dealing with change/ uncertainty and delivering results in challenging environments.
  • A passion for developing and coaching others -including your colleagues- to grow talent for the organization as an informal people leader.
  • Excellence in influencing senior stakeholders, conceptualizing and shaping strategies/ plans, challenging perceptions and expanding points of view, while readjusting the people agenda into strategies and initiatives to ensure buy-in.
  • Experience with WorkDay (and Kronos) are of advantage
  • Lean certification is an advantage
  • Fluent in English
  • Comfortable in speaking and reading Danish
