The research group of Molecular Immunology and Inflammation is looking for an engaged laboratory technician with experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology. The position is open-ended, appointment commences 1 September 2024.



About us

We study molecular mechanisms that control inflammatory responses, with a focus on ubiquitin-mediated signalling. Our aim is to identify central regulatory proteins and investigate the mechanisms that control them, with the long-term vision to discover molecules that can stimulate or restrict these processes for a more “optimal” immune response in relation to host-defence to infection versus excessive inflammation and autoimmunity.



Your tasks

As our laboratory technician, you will carry out a number of routine laboratory tasks, e.g. organisation and preparation of laboratory reagents/chemicals, help with ordering and receiving of goods, coordinate maintenance/repair of equipment, lab organisation, and other daily lab routines. You will also participate in various research projects that involve genetic editing of cultured cells (CRISPR-Cas9), immunostaining of tissues (IHC, IF), western blotting analysis of proteins, infection og cultured cells with bacteria / viruses, genotyping of mouse, during which you will work in close collaboration with the group’s scientists.



Profile

Essential experience and skills:

It is important that you:

  • Hold a degree as laboratory technician (academy profession degree or similar)
  • Have excellent English skills spoken and in writing. The research group employs several internaitonal resarch and English is the main languish used at the workplace.
  • Have hands-on experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology methods, including cell culture, CRISPR-Cas9-based genomic editing, western blotting, gel filtration, immunostaining (IHC, IF), ELISA, RNA-extraction, and qPCR.
  • Are good at working independently and organized
  • Are motivated, flexible, approachable and have good skills for communicating professionally with colleagues


Terms of salary and employment

Your employment will be at Dept. of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Copenhagen. The position is full-time (37 hours per week), open-ended, and commences 1 September 2024.

Employment as laboratory technician will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 3.

Depending on qualifications a supplement may be negotiated.
