The role of the Lead Agile Coach

The Lead Agile Coach will in close collaboration with the Agile TSE Manager be responsible for driving and accelerating the Agile transformation of the Technology Services Engineering (TSE) organization. You will coach a centralized team of Scrum Masters working across the organization to accelerate adoption of Agile and Scrum best practices and routines and to accelerate and drive parts of the TSE organization’s Agile transformation journey.

The Lead Agile Coach will assess current state, identify, and share techniques, practices, strategies, and principles to support teams in the adoption of Agile frameworks and improve the way our teams work in collaboration with the teams’ Scrum Masters and other stakeholders. The Lead Agile Coach will also help implement Agile governance and continuous improvement by facilitating Agile maturity assessments, workshops and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applies, teaches, coaches and mentors Scrum Masters and other stakeholders in Agile frameworks, techniques and practices at an organizational level.
  • Is able to help the organization decide on the most appropriate agile frameworks, techniques and practices for their environment and across multiple platforms.
  • Can coach and teach Agile teams on how to implement Scrum and Kanban based on own successful experience.
  • Uses and can adapt a wide range of facilitation skills to guide teams or groups of people through an effective process to achieve the desired outcome. 
  • Helps implement rhythms in the teams and techniques for effective Product Vision and Goals definition, Product Backlog management and vertical User Story Slicing.
  • Coach the Scrum Masters, the Product Owners and their teams to a higher degree of customer centricity: to understand who their customers are, how their products support them and to focus on delivering highest value first.
  • Helps establish empirical product planning for a complex environment.
  • Coordinates and delivers a holistic program of Agile and Scrum events for TSE, actively liaises with and contributes to broader Community of Practice strategic initiatives.
  • Apply empiricism through the three pillars of transparency, inspection, and adaption to increase efficiency and reduce waste across the organisation.
  • Supports a mindset of experimentation to allow for rapid responses to change whilst being able to articulate the benefits through hypothesis testing.
  • Key Skills

  • 7+ Years of Agile experience and 3+ years of experience from equivalent position as a Lead Agile Coach working across multiple teams and departments, incl. coaching leadership teams and managers from all layers of the organization.
  • Experience in forming and coaching high performing teams, providing direction and being a trusted advisor.
  • Demonstrated experience and strength in collaborating with and influencing across a wide variety of stakeholders across geographical locations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching organizations around agile best practices, expert in a broad range of Agile topics and experienced at working at the leadership (portfolio) level.
  • Significant experience acting as a Scrum Master or agile coach in a fast-moving tech environment.
  • Deep knowledge of agile principles and have the flexibility and drive to adapt your experience to new and evolving environments.
  • Experience with large scale software delivery and/or agile transformation at scale in large enterprise organizations.
  • Strong people and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messages and teach new concepts.

  • Experience with the OKR Framework would be considered a benefit.
