Manager – Chemical Production Management, Process Chemistry R&D

Are you an experienced chemical engineer/chemist and people leader looking to join Process Chemistry R&D in an exciting role with a unique combination of people management and project management? Then you now have the opportunity to be part of a great team and play a key role in supporting Lundbeck’s development pipeline (small molecules) and develop new medicines to treat Central Nervous System (CNS) diseases as our new Manager for CPM!

Your new role – why is this a great opportunity?

As Manager, you have the overall responsibility of leading the Chemical Production Management (CPM) unit within the department of Process Chemistry R&D. You will be involved in many aspects of the development value chain, e.g., raw material sourcing, technology transfers, environmental and safety assessments, process up-scaling, process implementation and GMP manufacture.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Leadership and guidance for Pilot Plant scientists and technicians
• Overall operational, facility and Environment, Health and Safety responsibility for CMC pilot plants
• Cross-functional project coordination and management of internal and external stakeholders
• Handling of process transfers, either from route design or to commercial production
• Capacity and resource planning and optimization providing alignment with project plans
• Scientific assessment for process development and implementation activities
• Safety and environmental risk assessment for chemical processes.

Your future team

Chemical Production Management (CPM) is a key component of Process Chemistry R&D, which is part of the Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) organization, where our goal is to scale-up and implement new synthetic processes as well as the GMP manufacture of novel Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API).

Your future team has a strong teamwork culture where collaboration within the CPM unit and the whole CMC area is vital to our success. The team is highly focused and use one of our several GMP facilities to scale-up and implement new synthetic processes for the manufacture of novel Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) under changeling timelines.

The CPM unit, herein this position, is situated at Lundbeck’s API production site at Lumsås, Denmark.

What you bring to the team

Ideally, you have a Master’s in Chemical Engineering or a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, potentially supplemented by industrial experience. You thrive in a team environment of shared goals and responsibilities. In addition, you bring excellent communication skills; ability to develop, implement, and clearly communicate strategies and plans to team, management and collaborators in English and Danish.

It is an advantage if you are experienced in leading teams of both academic and technical staff.
