Do you want to play a role in helping MAN Energy Solutions making ships greener by designing the best performing engines? Do you want to work in an exciting international company and navigate in a multicultural work environment every day? Can you handle a high degree of freedom and want to become the preferred expert in your field?
Then apply for the position as Mechanical Engineer to our group for Piping and Control Equipment.
From a climate perspective, shipping is a very effective way of transporting goods over long distances and MAN Energy Solutions is in a unique position to make a significant impact on the future of global shipping as we are developing new technologies that are reducing or eliminating the carbon footprint of seaborne transport.
It's exactly the right time to join MAN Energy Solutions if you want to join our green journey.
You will be handling a variety of tasks?
As our new engineer working within the group for piping systems and control equipment, you will develop, design and maintain key systems for existing and the future ship engines.
More specifically, you will:
Together with other dedicated colleagues you will, over time, be responsible for specific areas and be the “go to” person for your nearest colleagues and customers. In time you will also be expected to contribute with ideas and discussions towards new design, retrofit and smarter ways of working.
In the piping and control equipment group, you will be part of a team that consists of 14 people with various backgrounds and educations. Engineers, production technologists and technical designers.
We are currently hard at work with developing and designing systems for our new fuel types and emission technologies. But we are also working on maintaining the older engine designs incl. P&ID’s, machining drawings and part lists.
The design work takes place in cross-functional teams with a wide range of competences, as well as in smaller teams within the department where knowledge sharing is tantamount.
The tone is relaxed and we value a good atmosphere, in an informal workplace with time to laugh.
We have our own test facilities in Copenhagen, but are also collaborating with our partners in East Asia and with ships in service. Our engines are produced in Japan, South Korea and China. Therefore, a few weeks of travelling to these countries may be expected.
Who am I?
We imagine that you thrive in a busy environment with a working day that cannot always be predicted. You are open-minded and organized when new opportunities and challenges occur. We appreciate a true team player with the ambition to make every day a positive one.
In Engineering we are the link between departments and costumers and as an engineer you should be communicative and be ready to “defend” your area of responsibility. This means that you, in time, will have the technical ownership of an area and therefore possess the “stamina” to follow things through, to make it right.
We imagine that you have an interest in mechanical and hydraulic systems and possess a high amount of curiosity and willingness to develop and improve our systems.
Problems are seldom handled alone and cooperation will be important to reach your goals. This also means that you will need to be a partner for discussions both internally as well as externally.
Further we imagine that you:
You should expect that FEM will be a part of your design verification and it will therefore be an advantage if you have some knowledge within this area.
If you have a craftsman background it will also be an advantage or relevant design experience.
However, we encourage anyone with the right qualifications and interests to apply for the position!
How is my new team/area of business?
“In the group for piping and control equipment, we are passionate, ambitious and love what we do. We design components to make our engines more efficient, with less environmental footprint. In cooperation with other departments, and our customers, we take concepts and ideas and turn them into commercial design, ready for production. We strive to deliver top products, the best customer support trough collaboration and efficient work processes.”
