NPD Engineer

We are looking for an experienced R&D Engineer for an exciting new role in our NPD Project Team. You will be a part of the UK/N Wood Marketing team and will work alongside Global Project Engineering Teams

This is career opportunity within R&D Engineering where you will significantly impact the design and development of construction products. In this role you will drive meaningful CBI projects through the create phase as well as product optimization projects.

You will be responsible for leading new product development projects that meet defined timelines, marketing specifications, and manufacturing requirements. To excel in this role it is a given that you will apply your engineering expertise, technical creativity and problem-solving skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead concept designs: Initiate and/or co-develop proof of concept designs based on end user feedback, develop those designs on 3D software. Utilise CBI insights from external end users to adapt and improve product design. Engage IP counsel to discuss competitive IP risk, IP capture and agreements.
• Develop prototypes: Manage the production of physical prototypes using rapid prototyping principles to test, learn and iterate designs with continuous end user feedback.
• Develop product specifications: Collaborate with marketing, purchasing, manufacturing to construct project scope and determine costs and manufacturing feasibility.
• Design & validate the product: Work with strategic sourcing to finalise manufacturing supply chain and complete product costs.  Develop product test plans, participate in field validation, and lodge patent applications. 
• Apply ITW Toolbox and 80-20 to effectively drive results in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.
• Trend awareness for future Technology and Construction methodologies across the UK/N region

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical background.
• Relevant product design and development experience required.
• CAD Design/Modelling tools
• Exposure to manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated design capability, problem solving skills.
• Creative mindset with a genuine passion for product engineering
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experienced in cross-functional collaboration to industrialise new products.
• Strong project management and technical leadership skills
