We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead our Operations Team from our head office in Copenhagen. The Operations Manager will be reporting directly to the CEO. The successful candidate is a hands-on role model, who is accountable, engaging and sets a clear direction for the team. The main purpose of the role is to lead, develop and optimize the overall costs, performance, procedures, and the wellbeing of the Operations Team.

The Operations Team consists of 4 dedicated individuals, focused on customer experience, safety and service delivery. The team makes sure that our expedition cruises are well equipped and staffed with the most competent and knowledgeable guides to give our customers the experience of their lifetime. 

Main functions and responsibilities:

• Being operationally involved in solving the team's daily tasks (hands-on).
• Overall responsible for recruiting and scheduling the expedition guides. 
• Ensuring that expedition guides are properly trained in standard procedures with focus on safety and ensuring their continuous improvement of performance and retention. 
• Developing and optimizing workflows and implementing procedures, policies, and frameworks where and when they add value.
• Overall responsible for expedition equipment onboard. Supervising the provision of expedition supplies, providing technical advice where necessary.
• Developing and oversee the overall onboard expedition program and continually reviewing the Antarctic and Arctic standard operating procedures. 
• Participating as part of the team’s emergency scheme, where the employee may be called to work during disasters, delays, and unforeseen events.
• Supervise shop management and inventory.
• Work closely and interdepartmentally to ensure planning optimization with product, handling, marketing, and sales teams.
• Expect frequent visits to the ships to participate in pre- and post cruise activities and additional voyages if needed.

About you:

• Experienced in expedition operations; having worked with expedition guides in the cruise industry for at least three years (preferably within the Polar regions). Onboard experience is desirable. 
• You have the ability to think commercially while coordinating, onboarding, and monitoring expedition guides. 
• Responsible with a desire to perform, improve and execute.
• You have a structured approach, and you are detail-oriented, well-organized and skilled at time management.
• Strong intercultural communication skills and a high level of honesty, and integrity.
• Adaptable, independently motivated, and able to work under pressure. 
• Enjoys frequent travel to our vessels and for participation at industry conferences.
