We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our People Function at Maersk Headquarters in Copenhagen!

In this role you will become part of a dedicated payroll team of 6 employees who value knowledge sharing, helping each other, and having fun at work. You will report directly to the Payroll Manager for Denmark.

The team is fairly new, and you will take part in creating new ways of working and ensuring written process guidelines to be passed on to new employees. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders such as the People Advisory team, People Partners, and our external payroll vendor based in Spain.

Key Responsibilities

As our new Payroll Specialist, you will have knowledge of the payroll process from A-Z for all types of employment. With a curious and investigative approach to your tasks, you will be responsible for validating payroll results & provide approvals for final pay credits based on control reports. 

Furthermore, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Monthly payroll reconciliation and new payroll month preparation 
  • Ensuring timely Social Insurance Tax Payment and Reporting 
  • Managing advance payments 
  • Reimbursement
  • continuous contact with the outsourcing partner, with the pension provider and with e-income
  • Being risk aware and help identify, report, mitigate and track risks in the payroll delivery process 
  • Provide accounting files to finance along with the necessary documentation for internal and external audit
  • Managing the timely submission of RICC controls
  • Participating in Time and Attendance initiatives including system upgrades, communication of changes to People Partners, testing and documenting all changes for historical and record retention policies, project support as needed 
  • Interfacing with People Partners to support employee/manager queries 
  • Identifying improvement opportunities in regional processes and raise them to global process managers 
  • Facilitating knowledge transfer across different parties involved in service delivery in the current operating model, the core program team, external implementation partner, etc. 
  • We are looking for

    Our ideal candidate is well-structured with excellent collaboration skills and has previous experience in managing Payroll and Time & Attendance processes within a large, complex, international organization. This goes along with knowledge of compliance and legal regulations for payroll & benefits in Denmark.

    To succeed in this role, you must like changes in tasks and ways of working.

    Furthermore, we are looking for someone who has

  • Broader HR Operations experience as well as exposure to an outsourced payroll model would be a benefit.
  • A proactive, ‘let’s get it done’ attitude geared towards continuous improvement 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to operate in a fast-paced, developing project environment, taking ownership, and setting directions with minimal guidance
  • A collaborative working style, fostering cooperation and teamwork to find solutions 
  • Fluency in English and Danish
  • A good understanding for Finance
  • Highly analytical approach with a strong eye for detail 
  • Structured working style and focus on delivering results as per agreed timescales and scope.
