The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for one to two positions as Postdoc in the field of kidney receptor biology as per 1 August or 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position(s) are fixed-term full-time positions for 17 and 14 months, respectively.


The Department of Biomedicine

About the research projects


You will be part of a research group investigating the role of receptor-mediated endocytosis on the pathogenesis of chronic kidney disease and blood pressure regulation by the kidneys. The studies make use of a variety of different novel cell and animal models, including gene knockout mice. The position will provide excellent training and opportunities in many aspects of endocytic receptor biology, kidney epithelial cell biology as well as kidney physiology and pathophysiology.


Your job responsibilities


As Postdoc in kidney receptor biology your position is primarily research-based but may also involve teaching assignments. You will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance.

Your main tasks will consist of:
  • Conducting research of high international quality, including publication.
  • Planning and hands-on experimental work with gene knockout mice, including collection of blood and urine samples, injections, and collection of tissues.
  • Planning and hands-on experimental work with kidney cell cultures, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, western blotting, and qRT-PCR.
  • Supporting the supervision of Bachelor and Master Students in the planning and performance of experimental work.
 
You will report to the Group leader, Associate Professor Kathrin Weyer.


Your competences


You have academic qualifications at PhD level, preferably within one or more of the following areas medicine, molecular medicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, or equivalent.

You have research experience or a strong interest to learn about kidney physiology and/or receptor biology. Prior experience with cell cultures, western blotting, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA, is highly desirable. Experience with the acquirement and analysis of RNAseq data is an advantage. Practical experience with mouse models is required; hence, FELASA-B qualification is a plus.

As a person, you are enthusiastic, take ownership of and responsibility for your work, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. You are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment. We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.
