Senior Scientist - R&D LCMS Specialist

Job Description

We are searching for a highly experienced specialist to continue the work of our current LCMS analysis expert, who will retire soon. You will be become part of a well-established department, partnering with R&D colleagues from the global IFF organization to provide insights from using high end instrumental equipment in the domains of separations (liquid and gas phase), mass spectrometry (unit resolution and HRAM) and spectroscopy (NMR, FTIR, …). The hallmark of the department is a strong inter team collaboration where the answers for moving on R&D projects come from the combined efforts of several instrumental platforms.

The tasks cover the breadth of IFF businesses with a focus on materials involved in biotechnological processes and could be a potential new raw material or the IFF product in the target application. 

Samples may be a novel ingredient, perhaps in a food system or biofluids from a clinical experiment where the efficacy of probiotics are being studied.

Job Requirements

We hope you bring:

• PhD or MSc with +5 years of experience within analytical chemistry and a solid base within biochemistry or/and organic chemistry
• Strong foundation within mass spectrometry – both in-depth theoretical understanding as well practical hands-on experience. 
• Profound experience in structural assignment based on MSn spectra.
• Well established confidence in applying liquid phase separations, especially liquid phase chromatography. 
• Knowledge of which and how to apply relevant sample preparation to achieve optimal analytical data. 
• Ability to process raw data using both vendor and vendor agnostic academic tools. 
• Sense for data mining and visualization, using both classical statistics as well as multivariate data analysis. 
• A curious, structured, meticulous and persistent mind
