Do you want to be part of it?

We are currently seeking a Software Engineer who will focus on developing and maintaining backend systems for our products, influencing the core architecture that drives our applications and services.

You will report to our Engineering Manager and have the rest of our awesome Engineering Teams as your closest collaborators.

This is a full-time position at our Penneo HQ in Copenhagen, Denmark.

What would be your responsibilities?

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs that are robust, scalable, and secure with attention to quality and testability.
• Assist in maintaining and enhancing the CI/CD pipeline to ensure smooth and efficient deployment processes.
• Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other engineers.
• Continuously work on improving the code quality, system design, and processes.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

You will also be expected to:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for backend systems.
• Support the design of new features focusing on reliable uptime and robust error handling.
• Comply with data privacy regulations and standards during implementation.

• Some backend development experience, with skills in RESTful API design and programming languages like Java/Kotlin, PHP, or Node.js.
• Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of understanding complex software architectures.
• A collaborative and communicative mindset, adept at working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Curiosity about new technologies and methodologies with a willingness to explore innovative solutions.
• Enjoys being part of a positive team atmosphere and appreciates a multicultural environment.

How will this role progress?

During the 1st month, you will:

• Familiarize yourself with the team, tools, and technologies used in our projects.
• Complete onboarding sessions with key departments to grasp workflows and company culture.
• Start contributing to minor bug fixes and feature enhancements to familiarize yourself with our codebase.
• Begin participating in the planning and implementation phases of new features.

Within 3 months, you will:

• Be fully integrated into our team and participate in major feature builds.
• Take on more significant projects as part of our ongoing feature development.
• Have the opportunity to suggest improvements to our current systems.

Within 6 months, you will:

• Assist in mentoring junior engineers and participate actively in design and code review sessions.
• Contribute to a complete cycle of a major product feature, from conception to deployment.
• Play a supportive role in strategic planning for the next phases of our API and Identity solutions.
