VELUX has a very ambitious sustainability strategy, which comprises elements such as capturing our historical carbon footprint and making our packaging 100% recyclable. We also target to reduce our product carbon footprint by 50% and to increase the circularity of our products, components and materials.
This role is anchored in the VELUX Innovation Center (VINC), which is responsible for all new product development, in the team Sustainable Design & Simulation.
The team is responsible for implementing sustainable design into product development and enable development projects in reaching their sustainability goals, both regarding CO2 reduction and circularity.
The candidate will be part of the team setting the strategic direction within sustainability for VINC and will support projects by guiding them on applying sustainable design, developing guidelines and ways of working for projects and product development.
This role will add impactful value to both development projects and the overall sustainability strategy by integrating sustainable design into the way of working in VINC and ensuring the overall focus of applied sustainable design.
As a sustainability specialist you will be part of defining the key processes of implementing sustainable design in product development and a crucial partner for projects when planning and identifying the path to reach the sustainability goals.
This role is new and you will have the opportunity to influence the role and ways of working. But we have defined some key tasks:
Calculate the carbon footprint and evaluate the circularity of products and projects
Guide projects and product developers in applying and integrating sustainable design
Proactively gather learnings across projects, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of best-practices.
Ensure training and sparring of relevant employee groups in VINC.
Maintain an overview of all VINC sustainability initiatives, providing regular reports on progress and related recommendations.
Develop guidelines, best practices, small tools and how-to for sustainable design
Your qualifications:
MSc in Engineering or similar
2-5 years of experience within sustainability and product development
Experience with specific IT tools, if applicable: Sustainability tools, Microsoft Office
In-depth knowledge of ecodesign, design for sustainability, e.g. decarbonization of products and circular design.
Experience within product development, 3D design, product development processes is preferred
Language requirements: English, Danish is an advantage
Background in product development with an in-depth knowledge of the how to reduce the CO2 footprint of products and components by design and material choices, and of circular design principles.
Good at communicating complex results at an understandable level
Great teamwork skills and team spirit
