The University seeks to appoint a part-time (20%) Associate Professor at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology for a period of five years. The starting date is 1 February 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Job description
An associate professor at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology is a committed and responsible member of our academic community, which provides research, education, innovation and outreach activities to the surrounding societies.

We seek to appoint an Associate Professor to bridge basic research in medicinal chemistry with radiopharmaceutical chemistry for clinical applications. The Associate Professor is expected to collaborate broadly within the department and initiate and establish international collaborations.

The successful applicant will be an active member of one or more interdisciplinary research clusters. The research clusters provide a departmental framework for scientific collaboration at high international level and facilitate an inspiring scientific working environment.

The candidate will contribute to the teaching in radiopharmaceutical chemistry, including the topics GMP and GCP regulations and be an active player in the continuous development of new courses herein at all academic levels.

The position is anchored in the Medicinal Chemistry Discipline, which provides access to core research facilities in the medicinal chemistry field, as well as serving as a community for the continuous scientific development of the field.

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research in radiopharmaceutical chemistry, including publication/academic dissemination of results to the scientific community and the general public
  • Develop, organize and conduct research-based teaching in radiopharmaceutical chemistry at all educational levels
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of other scientists and students at all levels
  • Being a committed and dedicated member of the Department’s academic community
  • Academic assessments
Required qualifications
Six overall criteria apply for associate professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen. The six criteria (research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding and leadership) are considered a framework for the overall assessment of candidates. The applicant must be able to document experience in:

  • GMP within the production of radio-tracers for clinical use
  • GMP and GCP related to legislations, approval, and production of radiopharmaceuticals
  • Teaching (qualifications and pedagogical competencies) within radiopharmaceutical chemistry and/or relevant areas such as organic chemistry and/or medicinal chemistry
Desired qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal and communicative skills
  • PhD in the field of organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry
  • Solid scientific results within optimization of methods for efficient synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals
Terms of employment
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.

The position is a part-time associate professor equivalent to 20% of a full time employment.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
