We are looking for a researcher for the Section for Obesity Research. The successful applicant will be specialized in obesity research and energy balance, within the area of development of biomarkers for personalization of dietary weight loss management with emphasis on glucose metabolism, appetite hormones and microbiota. The research should aim at developing tools that can easily be translated into clinical applications for both public health and professional obesity management settings in order to optimize management of obesity, prediabetes and type-2 diabetes.

Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competences and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training program for assistant professors is required.

The applicant is expected to contribute to develop and run a course “Innovation and entrepreneurship in nutrition and exercise physiology” offered to BA in Exercise and Sports.

Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations at bachelor, master and PhD level (Danish and English classes), engage with media, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external collaborations and funding will also be considered.

The section for obesity research undertakes basic and clinical research to investigate how appetite and energy metabolism is regulated, with the ultimate goal to improve our ability to prevent and treat obesity and related diseases, such as type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

The research group investigates the effects of diets, physical activity pattern, sleep, stress, gastric bypass, gut microbiota, genetics and medicines on energy balance in individuals who are normal-weight, overweight or obese with/without metabolic complications both in short-term and long-term intervention studies as well as observational studies. The unit has 35 employees including scientific, technical and administrative personnel.

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
