Crown Prince Frederik Center for Public Leadership at the Department of Political Science at Aarhus University invites applications for one or two positions as assistant professor or post doc, offering the applicants an opportunity to do research focused on public leadership.

The leadership center
Crown Prince Frederik Center for Public Leadership is a research center that provides robust knowledge about how leadership can improve performance in public organizations and ensures that this knowledge is disseminated and used in leadership training. To become part of this center, your future research must have potential to improve knowledge about leadership and performance in public organizations. The center is located at Department of Political Science and includes researchers from many different disciplines, including psychology, economics and management. We publish in the best international journals and communicate our research results to the political-administrative system and to the public in general.


Job description
The successful applicant is expected to contribute significantly to the center research and dissemination and to the department’s research and teaching environment and the overall research strategy of Aarhus BSS. The most important tasks are:

  • Developing and implementing research designs
  • Analyzing data
  • Writing and publishing papers
  • Teaching public policy and political science students
  • Disseminating to public managers and decision makers

We expect you to carry out individual and group-based research of the highest international standard, teach and supervise students at Bachelor’s and Master’s level, and participate in the activities of the department and its section for public leadership.

The center offers funding for conferences, additional training, and opportunities for developing a valuable academic network.


Your qualifications
Applicants are expected to hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in political science, public administration or another field relevant to the center. Other key qualifications include:
  • A good grasp of the relevant academic literature (e.g. about leadership behavior and performance in public organizations).
  • Experience with (qualitative and/or quantitative) data collection, data management and data analysis
  • Ambition and ability to produce high-quality and high-impact research.
  • The ability to work constructively and effectively as part of a research team
  • Teaching experience.

We will prioritize applicants who have demonstrated the ability to perform solid and original research results and whom we believe will contribute to the further development of the center’s research, teaching and dissemination.
