Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Rigshospitalet, announces a consultancy position in Paediatric Pulmonology from as soon as possible The position is associated with a five-year fixed termed Clinical professorship in Paediatrics with special focus on severe congenital or aquired chronic pulmonary diseases in children.

Only applicants who are qualified for both the consultancy position and the professorship will be considered for the position.

About the department
Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine are responsible for highly specialised treatment within the areas of child cardiology, neuropaediatrics, cystic fibrosis, chronical lung disorders, nephrology, haematology/oncology, bone marrow transplant, immunology, hepatology, rheumatology, infection medicine, intensive care and social paediatrics for sexually abused children and international paediatrics.

The professorship is attached to The Danish Paediatric Pulmonary Service (DPPS), Rigshospitalet which is one of the world's leading centers in the treatment of children and adolescents with chronic lung diseases. DPPS is internationally renowned for its treatment results and research in cystic fibrosis (CF) and primary ciliedyskinesia (PCD) and are among the leading centers in Northern Europe concerning interstitial lung disease in children (chILD). DPPS is an accredited full member of the European Reference Network (ERN-LUNG) concerning CF and PCD. DPPS receives both cross border referrals and from all over Denmark (including Faroe Islands and Greenland) for second opinion regarding children, adolescents and sometimes adults with complicated pulmonary diseases. DPPS has a built-in and integrated Children's Respiratory Physiology Laboratory managing refined methods for measuring different aspects of physiology and lung diseases - and matches the best in the world. The laboratory provides a unique symbiosis with routine clinic and carries a special synergy, which at the same time requires high expectations for the development of advanced methods for the different age groups of children (babies, preschoolers, schoolchildren and adolescents) and warrants continuous adaptation to the specific clinical and research questions that this patient population presents. DPPS contributes to the education of pediatricians in pediatric pulmonology.


The applicant must demonstrate high research activity at excellence level and skills to work together with an interdisciplinary group of high profile senior researchers at the department.

All applicants must address their competencies with regard to the seven competencies specified by the Danish Medical Board (medical expert, communicator, collaborator, leader/manager, health promoter, academics, and professional).

  • A detailed curriculum vitae specifying the applicant’s experience with research management, clinical and teaching qualifications
  • Copies of relevant authorisations
  • Complete list of publications
  • A statement detailing the basis on which the applicant wishes to be assessed
Salary and terms of employment as specified under the provisions of employment for senior consultants in the collective agreement between the Danish regions and the Danish Medical Association.
