A fixed term PhD fellowship in Precision Antisense Antibiotics at Center for Peptide-Based Antibiotics, Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine

The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) invites applicants for a 3-year PhD fellowship in ‘Anti-virulence targeting in UTI relevant E. coli’.
The fellowship is available from 1 September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Our group and research
Center for Peptide-Based Antibiotics (Cepan) offers an ambitious scientific environment, with many different nationalities represented. Cepan is a research center at University of Copenhagen aiming at discovery of novel peptide based antibiotics targeting resistant gram-negative bacteria.

Project description
The project Virulence genes are crucial for the pathogenicity of many bacteria including E.coli strains causing resistant and chronical urinary tract infection. These genes control e.g. biofilm formation and intracellular infection. In this project, selective targeting of specific virulence genes by antisense precision antibiotics is studied as a possible future treatment modality for urinary tract infection.
