Academic staff (scientific project coordinator) in functional proteomics

A position as academic staff (scientific project coordinator) is available at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark. The candidate will be affiliated with the research group of Jens S. Andersen as part of the collaborative project Exo-Adapt. The position is available for up to six years from October 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Application deadline: August 21, 2019.
Research Project
Exo-Adapt is a collaborative project for a six-year period supported by a major grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The Exo-Adapt initiative aims to study the function, structure, regulation, and targeting of RNA exosome adaptor complexes using a combination of genomics, proteomics, and single-particle cryo-electron microscopy approaches.
The project involves the following PIs:
• Torben Heick Jensen (coordinator), Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, University of Aarhus, Denmark
• Elena Conti, Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Munich, Germany
• Jens S. Andersen, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark

We offer:
• A position available for up to six years in a stimulating and supportive, international research environment.
• Access to state-of-the-art equipment, facilities, and infrastructure, including a unique collection of advanced instrumentation for mass spectrometry and bioimaging.

Qualifications/requirements

• An academic education with a PhD degree and documented experience in quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics, cell culturing, and standard molecular biology and microscopy methods.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills and an interest in working in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
• An open and positive mind to contribute positively to the infrastructure success and well-being of the research team.
• Experience in teaching students at both the theoretical and practical level.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Finally, the employee has to contribute to the department’s teaching as well as support for the department’s general functions and infrastructure.
