The position
holder is expected to be a highly independent department manager in leading and managing Animal Facility and a highly independent veterinarian. The department consists of a dog team and a rodent team (2 team leaders and 19 animal caretakers), and a veterinarian to support both teams. The department is a highly motivated and productive team with high standards for animal care and use as well as supports to the projects. Key areas of responsibility: Department and people management Leadership and management of the department guided by the NNWay Department operation in compliance with all internal and external requirements Department OH&S Professional use of and communication with external vendors and service providers Animal Facility Leadership and management of the Animal Facility according to the Novo Nordisk global standards for animal care and welfare Secure state-of-the-art animal facility Contribute to the continuous development and integration of the global laboratory animal science (LAS) area Contribute to the development of dog pharmacology platform into an NN Centre of Excellence within dog pharmacology Ensure project support, quality, efficiency, and collaboration Qualifications Education M.Sc. and PhD within relevant scientific area (veterinarian, LAS, pharmacology, or medicine) Holder of certificate for working with laboratory animals in Beijing or equivalent training in Laboratory Animal Science Experiences: 5+ years relevant postdoc research experience of which 4+ years are within pharmaceutical R&D 3+ years managerial experience (as manager, team leader or project manager/coordinator with team management responsibility) Recognized as expert within veterinarian and/or laboratory animal science Documented track record of R&D project impact, scientific achievement (e.g. scientific papers), and innovation (patents) Experience with communication of science and results and mentoring Experience with establishing cross-functional network Experience with establishing external collaboration Personal skills: High level of integrity, compliance and quality mind-set Strong people management skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Positive nature with pragmatic attitude and embracement on cultural differences Be persistent and able to drive change Positive and motivated, good team-player, highly flexible and have a “can-do” approach Fluent in oral and written English Functional in oral and written Chinese-mandarin We commit to an inclusive recruitment process and equality of opportunity for all our job applicants.
