Senior Electrical Engineer

Job-Link is looking for a Senior Electrical System Engineer for one of our customers in Greater Copenhagen.

As our new Senior Electrical Engineer, you will support the operation of billion dollar drilling rigs through your solid and innovative engineering solutions. By helping the rigs to overcome technical challenges and keeping the rigs in operation is part of the backbone of the earnings in the company.

This position as Senior Electrical Engineer is referring to the head of the Electrical, Automation, Technical Safety and Technical Compliance section, part of Technical Organization in Maersk Drilling. The section works to support primarily our colleagues operating our drilling rigs by troubleshooting and implementing technical sound solutions in various modification projects but also assisting our Commercial colleagues securing new contracts. Key Responsibilities

As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing electrical modification projects, working closely with our team of engineers to ensure that quality and progress targets are met
  • General technical support to our operations colleagues
  • Defining performance requirements, validating engineering solutions, confirming same at FATs and commissioning and overseeing final installation and documentation
  • Managing engineering consultancies and suppliers working on your projects
  • Facilitate and participate in projects internationally
  • Contribute with in-depth technical knowledge on various technical topics.

Skills within your toolbox:

  • Electrical Power generating systems and studies (load flow, short circuit, harmonics, selectivity, dynamic etc.), incl. power management systems
  • Lead the section in the correct design assessments of electrical power plants (diesel generators and gas turbine driven generators e.g. used for dynamic positioning)
  • Project lead on electrical work scopes including:
    • Power supply (HV/LV/DC UPS) and distribution systems (switchboards), drilling or auxiliary consumer systems (incl. big motors)
    • ICS upgrades and interfaces (Industrial Computer Systems)
    • Telecoms (PAPX, PAGA, TETRA, Fibre based networks etc.)
  • Explosion proof/Hazardous areas (ignition source control), and equipment.

I.e. working on a broad scope of electrical and automation systems on a modern drilling rig.

Your main responsibilities will be

  • Development of concept and detailed designs within your professional skills and experience. This also includes interface design and fit-for-purpose design
  • Make technical purchase specifications, before picking suppliers and subcontractors as well as participate in factory quality tests, commissioning and ensuring correct documentation
  • Prepare work scope packages detailing the actual work to be performed offshore and negotiate the content with the supplier doing the work. This will include on site supervision or remotely managed follow-up through to mechanical completion and commissioning.

Who we are looking for

A candidate that has a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Has been working with implementation of Power system with a keen interest in automation systems.

A background as electrician or similar can be an advantage, further:

  • Has a minimum of six years of experience delivering engineering solutions and support in the field of electrical and automation as pr. above list
  • Is proactive and self-driven
  • Is strongly result-oriented, capable of working independently as well as in teams and has a logical approach to problem solving and naturally supports knowledge sharing
  • Can make sound engineering decisions on the fly and at the same time have a collaborative approach (we win rather than I win)
  • Is fluent in written and spoken English.

Having practical field installation and commissioning experience working in remote locations will be an advantage.

To apply for this position, you must hold a valid Danish work- and residence permit.

You need to be willing and able to travel worldwide abt. 50 days pr. year, also with short notice and with unclear return dates. Longer offshore stays (above 14 days pr. 3 month) will be additionally compensated for.
