ITU is seeking a Postdoc for Basic Algorithms Research Copenhagen at the BARC Center

The BARC Center for Basic Algorithms Research Copenhagen (barc.ku.dk) is seeking a postdoc employed at IT University of Copenhagen (ITU).

BARC is a leading center for fundamental algorithmic research, headed by VILLUM Investigator Mikkel Thorup. BARC’s core researchers at ITU are Rasmus Pagh and Thore Husfeldt. The aim of BARC is to attract top talent from around the world to an ambitious, creative, collaborative, and fun environment using the power of mathematics we strive to create fundamental breakthroughs in algorithmic thinking.

The ideal candidate will have proven their research ability through an outstanding PhD thesis, and by publishing in leading international venues for algorithms theory.

The position is for 2 years, with starting date 1 September 2020. Financing for BARC is split between UCPH and ITU, and positions are to be filled at both institutions.

  • Copies of max. 5 different publications that are relevant to the position
  • A numbered list of publications. The enclosed publications should be marked with an asterisk (*)
  • Documentation of pedagogical experience and teaching record within one or more of the teaching areas listed for the position.

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time Faculty members. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialization of IT.

Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
