Assistant Professor in composite manufacturing technology

SDU Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in composite manufacturing technology. SDU Mechanical Engineering is part of Department of Technology and Innovation at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Southern Denmark, located at the main campus in Odense.


We are building-up new composite laboratory facilities at Hans Christian Andersen Airport together with the SDU UAS Center. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for establishing and operating the composite lab and will have the following primary tasks:



  • Develop the composite lab continuously and ensure activities in the lab

  • Carry out projects together with researchers, students and companies

  • Hands-on work in the lab together with students and researchers

  • Teaching in composite manufacturing technology and material technology

  • Supervise projects and thesis


The candidate must have an engineering background at the master level or higher and:



  • Knowledge and experience with composite materials and manufacturing technologies

  • Chemical background knowledge related to plastics and fibers

  • Experiences with lab work and development of laboratories

  • Experiences with teaching is appreciated


We seek a candidate with a start-up mentality who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic R&D environment. The candidate must be self-driven and used to coordinate many activities and projects at the same time. We expect the candidate to have a strong, relevant network and experience in collaborating with industrial partners.


The position is available from April 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

An assistant professorship is normally a 3-year position.

As part of the overall assessment of the applicant's qualifications, the applicant may be called for interview.


The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
