Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering for Microelectronics

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aarhus University, Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in the field of Integrated Circuits. The position is a 4-year fixed-term full-time position, and commences on 1 August 2021. The successful applicant will work with ibrAIn research center at Aarhus University.

ibrAIn center is a center at the Department of Engineering at Aarhus University with the vision of being a leading center within intelligent brain interfacing implants. ibrAIn's goal is to explore the development of novel AI hardware into ultra-low power and miniaturized brain implants enabling monitoring and treatment of brain diseases. The center, as an interdisciplinary center, aims to steer up the development of advanced smart brain interfacing technologies globally.

Your job responsibilities
As assistant Professor in microelectronics, your primary task will be research and teaching. You will teach and supervise students, and you will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. The position of Assistant Professor is a career development position in which you will receive supervision and pedagogical upgrading. Your main tasks will consist of independent research of high international quality including publication, guidance or supervision of Bachelor’s and Master's degree students, as well as possibly supervision of PhD students, and some degree of contribution towards attracting external research funding.

Your competences
You have completed a Ph.D. in the field of microelectronics. You have independent research-related qualifications at a high international level. You are a clear communicator and you have some degree of experience of supervision. We expect you to have experience with different analog and mixed-signal blocks for biomedical circuits and system as well as expertise in CMOS process and design flow. You have experience and a strong interest in implantable miniaturized integrated circuits. You have good interpersonal skills, are friendly, helpful, and able to contribute to a good work environment. We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.

About the Electrical and Computer Engineering Section
Electrical and computer engineering are closely related engineering disciplines that focus on the development of hardware and software for intelligent units and networks. This includes hardware at system and component levels as well as many different types of software for controlling electronic devices and networks.

The research areas within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Section at the Department of Engineering support the development within this area. The outcome greatly influences our daily lives as advanced technologies are incorporated into an increasing number of products, for example in industrial processes, at hospitals and in information infrastructures.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
