Assistant professor in health promotion with competences in policy research

The Unit for Health Promotion Research, Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark, Campus Esbjerg invites applications for a position as assistant professor within the area of health promotion with competences in policy research to be filled in for the period 1. August 2018 – 31. July 2020. During the period, the candidate is expected to qualify as associate professor.

The successful applicant will be expected to conduct and publish internationally competitive research in the fields of health promotion. The position aims to strengthen ongoing activities in the unit within the field of evidence-informed public health, implementation and research/practice collaboration. 

This work will be conducted in an open and inspiring work environment of a group of international researchers coming from different disciplines, such as public health, political science, sociology, psychology, biology and epidemiology. 

Current research lines of the Unit for Health Promotion Research are Health in all Policies, Social Determinants of Health, Global Health, Evidence-informed Health Promotion and Risk Analysis. The candidate must be able to work cross-disciplinary in teams’ collaboration between researchers and the surrounding society. The new assistant professor should develop her/his own research field in collaboration with these research areas.

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching of courses and supervision of students within the BSc and MSc programs in Public Health.

Required qualifications:

The successful candidate for the position as assistant professor must

• Hold a PhD degree in Public Health or Social Science   
• Research qualifications such as post doc or equivalent experience of minimum two years within the subject areas
• Research experience documented by international peer-reviewed journal articles within the fields of health promotion and public health
• Have a documented record of teaching experience, pedagogic training and teaching skills in the respective field at the bachelor and master level.

Further assets of the candidates are: experience with funding applications and project coordination, international research collaboration and collaboration with practice partners.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
