Assistant professor in psychology

The Department of Psychology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, embedded within the Faculty of Health Sciences, invites applications for a vacant position as assistant professor in psychology to be filled in October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Psychology has been built up during the last 7 years and forms the research basis for the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology at the University of Southern Denmark. Both degree programmes have been fully developed and the first master’s students graduated in August 2015. The primary research focus of the department is on medical and clinical psychology with a translational perspective. The research programme is currently organized into 5 main topics with academic staff members participating in one or more of the associated research groups.

As the department is looking to strengthen its expertise and portfolio in educational psychology and qualitative methods, we are looking for a candidate with an interest in or expertise in educational psychology and in the Danish field of pedagogical psychological counselling (PPR). The candidate preferably also has a strong profile in qualitative methods. The candidate should be a team player and interested in contributing actively to the environment of the department.

Appointment as assistant professor presupposes scientific qualifications documented through a PhD degree in psychology.

Applicants will be expected to have strong research competencies and qualifications that can contribute to:
• Continued course development and coordination of the degree programmes in psychology at the University of Southern Denmark
• Teaching and supervision at the BSc and MSc level
• Development of a dynamic research environment through the establishment of national and international collaborations
• Development of talents at the Department
• Raising external competitive research funds
