Our research

Microorganisms in the oral cavity have a direct and indirect causal relationship with oral and systemic diseases. In our research, we focus on how to maintain and develop a healthy diverse oral microbiome. We have several ongoing projects within prebiotics and probiotics that have the potential to support the prevention of oral diseases.

We wish to expand our focus on the dysbiotic interaction between the oral microbiota and the host that plays a crucial role in the development of disease in the tissues of the teeth and in the periodontium. As assistant professor, you will conduct clinical and laboratory projects, with focus on mechanisms and interactions between oral microorganisms and host response, so that we can better prevent, diagnose and treat oral diseases with beneficial effects on public health. In the laboratory, you will take part in establishing multispecies biofilm models, to support research into basic microbiological mechanisms as well as interactions with hard and soft tissues.
