Assistant/associate professorship in IT Project Management and IT Systems Development

The Research Centre for Government IT at the IT University of Copenhagen invites applicants for an assistant/associate professorship in IT project management and IT systems development. The proposed starting date is fall 2018. The research center is part of the Computer Science Department.

The IT University’s vision is to create and share knowledge that is profound and leads to ground-breaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity. The Computer Science Department seeks to conduct research and education that are both foundational and have impact on industry and society.

The goal of the Research Centre for Government IT is to contribute to research-based knowledge and competence development concerning government IT projects and IT operations.


The candidate
The successful candidate is expected to hold a PhD in computer science, software engineering, or similar
relevant field.

The preferred candidate has competences within all or several of the following areas:

  • Software development
  • Software quality and metrics
  • IT project management
  • Design, execution, and reporting of IT project studies
  • All phases of the system development life cycle, including operations and maintenance
  • Qualitative as well as quantitative research methods, interviews, and surveys
  • Proficiency in a Scandinavian language (e.g. because of the need to study Danish government documents).
We further welcome applications from exceptional candidates with other areas of expertise within the domain of IT projects.


The ideal candidate should document:
  • Publications of research at a high international level in well-respected peer reviewed venues
  • Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well received by students
  • A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which he/she has worked, for example participation in committees, etc.
  • Attract external research funding (associate professorship)
  • Supervise PhD students (associate professorship)

The IT University of Copenhagen is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 70 full-time faculty. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialisation of IT.

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
