Assistant/Associate Professorships in Service Design and Human-centered Computing at the IT University of Copenhagen

The Business IT Department at the IT University of Copenhagen invites qualified applications for a position as Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Service Design and Human-Centered Computing. The proposed starting date is December 2019 or soon thereafter. An earlier start date may be negotiated.

We invite applicants who want to contribute to the IT University’s vision of creating and sharing knowledge that is profound and leads to ground-breaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity, and more specifically contribute to the Business IT Department's research and education, both foundational and with impact on industry and society (see https://en.itu.dk/research/departments/business-it-department).

Job Description
The new Assistant or Associate Professor are expected to do research and teach in one or more of the following areas:

  • Digital Service Design; Preference is given to applicants with a focus on services process automation and machine learning, smart services and smart service systems, and service oriented economy, including the use of data analytics and smart or autonomous technologies in serve settings.
  • Digital Design Management; Preference is given to applicants with a focus on design thinking and design science research approaches for services and service systems, participatory design and collaborative co-creating approaches to digital design
  • Digital Design Research; Preference is given to applicants with a focus on design science methodologies, techniques, and tools for automated service composition and delivery, and/or research methodologies for service science/research
  • Digital support for cooperative work in complex organizational settings; Preferences will be given to applicants with a focus on digitization of case management and/or the interplay between humans and machine learning technologies in services such as citizen science and healthcare.
Research Qualification Requirements
The ideal applicant has a solid track record in publishing research within the above areas in internationally renowned journals and conferences in Information Systems, CSCW, HCI or related disciplines. Proven ability to balance theoretical profoundness, methodological rigor, and practical relevance is required.

Proven expertise in one or more of the following areas are also appreciated:
  • Working in interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Successful research projects in close collaboration with enterprises or public sector
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following research methods: Behavior-oriented Information Systems research, qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, design science research or experience in mixed methods research.
It is highly desirable that the applicant is willing and able to actively and positively contribute to our interdisciplinary research environment. The IT University also carries out teaching and research in a range of other areas, including digital culture, digital media and communication, computer games, interaction design, pervasive interaction technology, technologies in practice, software engineering, theoretical computer science, and information systems management.

Teaching Qualification Requirements
Ability to teach a broader range of courses of Information Systems such as Systems Design and Implementation, Information Management, Requirements Analysis, Business Process Management, Business Analysis, Information Visualization, and CSCW, is a plus. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong teaching portfolio in areas that are complementary with the interests of the existing faculty.

The ideal candidate should document:
  • Publications of research at a high international level in well-respected peer reviewed venues
  • Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well received by students
  • A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which he/she has worked, for example participation in committees, etc.
In addition, candidates for the position as associate professorship should be able to:
  • Attract external research funding
  • Supervise PhD students
  • Read/speak a Scandinavian language (or have the willingness to learn Danish)
