  • can demonstrate experience of developing contacts with external partners in industry and connecting students with external partners as part of their degree programme

Knowledge exchange 
The successful applicant will be expected to exchange knowledge with various sectors of society outside the university. The appointee is also expected to contribute to the general public debate in areas related to the position. Additionally, the appointee is expected to participate in research projects with internal and external partners. Applicants should document any prior experience within the above areas. 
 
Qualifications required 
Applicants must have a PhD degree or equivalent qualifications in a relevant field related to English-language communication, media and culture as well as teaching and research qualifications equivalent to those acquired in an assistant professorship, and must be able to document:  
  • a record of international research publications in English-language communication, media and culture 
  • international research conference participation 
  • the development of interdisciplinary English-language communication, media and culture research projects 
  • relevant and successful teaching experience at university level within English-language communication, media and culture 
  • a record of applying innovative teaching methods that develop students’ collaborative involvement with external partners 
  • experience of applying for external funding 
  • native or near-native command of English 
If the successful applicant does not speak Danish, he or she will be required to acquire sufficient Danish within two years of commencing the appointment to participate fully in the activities of the School of Communication and Culture. In order to maintain and develop the department’s excellent research environment, the person appointed is expected to be present at the department on a daily basis. The Department of English is part of the School of Communication and Culture, and it currently employs over 40 full-time academic staff, a growing community of PhD students and postdocs, and a number of part-time lecturers. Its highly internationally oriented staff pursue a diversity of research interests characterised by research disciplines – literature, linguistics, lexicography, translation, business communication, media, and the study of history, society and culture – as well as geographical areas of focus, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States and Canada. The department also hosts three centres: the American Studies Center Aarhus, the Canadian Studies Centre, and the Centre for Irish Studies in Aarhus.
