Associate Professor in Corporate Governance

Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Associate Professorship position in Corporate Governance at the Center of Corporate Governance (CCG), which is a part of Department of Accounting (ACC). CCG is one of the leading corporate governance centers in Europe.

Currently, the core research areas of the center are as follows: 1) ownership structures (including industrial foundations) 2) board work and 3) Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC).

It is the ambition of the center to be in the international frontline in these research areas; to publish our research results in leading international journals; to have an excellent research environment; to seek synergy between research and teaching, and to have a strong partnership with the business community.

Examples of research areas that the associate professor might cover:

  • Nordic corporate governance
  • Ownership models and in particular long-term ownership
  • Board work in either SMV or international firms
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance with a strong link either to the financial sector or applied board work

CCG is an interdisciplinary research center with a strong track record in corporate governance and in international business. It is essential that the candidate is able to provide a significant contribution to the distinct research profile. The successful applicant must therefore connect to the research taking place at both at the CCG and the departmental level. Furthermore, we also expect the right candidate to able to be leading a major research program with multiple stakeholders and over time to establish new teaching platforms. Equally important, the person must have a strong teaching record and be willing to be involved in executive training program, if needed.

The Associate Professorship is a permanent position and we expect the candidate to be starting on 1 September 2019.

Furthermore, successful applicants must have an international profile, a strong record of research publications, and teaching experience in Corporate Governance and related topics. They must be capable of providing dynamic leadership in the development of research and teaching, in securing external research funding, and in establishing strong ties with industry.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.

Furthermore other selection criteria do include:
  • Individual and group based research meeting high international standards
  • Promoting CBS’s academic reputation
  • Initiating, fund raising and coordinating research projects
  • Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and other relevant assignments at Copenhagen Business School
  • Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the Department and to CBS-wide tasks
  • Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular, including participating in the public debate, including media
  • Research meeting high international standards, including responsibility for the academic development of the relevant discipline and be contributing to different Nordic and International corporate governance networks
  • Contribute to departmental research diversity by being a driving force of own research agenda
  • Responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching
  • Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences
  • Develop collaborative network connections to business community
