Associate Professor in Sound Communication and Behaviour

The Department of Biology, University of Southern Denmark invites applications for an associate professorship within the field of bioacoustics and behavioural neuroscience. The position is available from 1 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Biology covers biology in a broad sense including bioacoustics, physiology, ecology, ecotoxicology, biodemography and biogeochemistry. 

The successful applicant is expected to consolidate and strengthen the department´s profile within the area of bioacoustics and behavioural neuroscience. You are responsible for the organisation, implementation and coordination of new research and teaching activities as well as building up a leading international position.

The position is embedded in the Sound Communication and Behaviour (SCB) group that studies the interface of behavioural neuroscience, biomechanics and physiology in vocal communication with a strong emphasis on and excellence in physics, computation, signal analysis, method development and innovation. We use an integrative, high-tech experimental approach including laboratory, modelling, robotics and field studies in a comparative setting across a wide range of animals, including insects, frogs, birds, bats and whales.
