Associate Professor positions in the Copenhagen Center for Glycomics

Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine

Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

University of Copenhagen

The University seeks to appoint a number of associate professors to the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine to commence as soon as possible. The appointments are expected to be made as one permanent position at the Associate Professor level and one or more fixed-term positions at the Associate Professor level with an end date of 31 March 2022. The fixed-term associate professor positions have the possibility of extension if further funding is available.

The ICMM aims to produce research with a high international impact focusing on the functional cell, its genetic components and molecular mechanisms in a biomedical context. The ICMM offers modern laboratory facilities and administrative support. Within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences core, facilities and other experimental platforms are also available. The ICMM is also responsible for a number of undergraduate and graduate teaching programs at the University of Copenhagen and the scientists at ICMM are responsible for conducting high-quality research-based teaching. You can read about ICMM at www.icmm.ku.dk and https://sund.ku.dk/.

Job Description

The successful candidates will develop an independent research program in structural and/or functional glycomics aligned with the general aims of the Center. CCG has state-of-the-art mass spectrometry facilities and is pioneering novel strategies in O-glycoproteomics (SimpleCells, Glyco-DIA) and analysis of glycosaminoglycans (GAGOme, SIMMS2). CCG applies genetic engineering (CRISPR/Cas, ZFNs, and TALENs) strategies for discovery of regulation and biological functions of cellular glycosylation processes and design of glycoprotein therapeutics. CCG develops tools and reagents for the glycomics Community, and currently has a strong focus on developing prediction models of cellular glycosylation by use of quantitative single cell transcriptomics and proteomics data. The applicants will contribute to diverse ongoing research programs.

The associate professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
