Associate Professorship in e-government and IT project studies

The Computer Science Department at the IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for a faculty position in e-government and IT project studies at the rank of associate professor. The proposed starting date is February 2021 or soon thereafter.

The Computer Science Department seeks to conduct research and education that are both foundational and have impact on industry and society.

The candidate
We look to hire a strong candidate holding a PhD in E-government, Information Systems (IS), Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), or a closely related field.

The candidate is expected to be able to conduct research and research-based teaching in the following area:

  • E-government, with a focus on digitalisation of public services. Focus on the Danish public sector would be an advantage.
The ideal candidate should document:

  • Publications of research at a high international level in well-respected peer reviewed venues, such as Government Information Quarterly, International Conference on Electronic Government, and International Journal of Public Administration in the Digital Age
  • Experience in quantitative studies of government IT projects, or similar
  • Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well received by students
  • Services rendered to institutions in which he/she has worked and the broader peer scientific community, for example, reviewer, editorships, participation in committees, etc.
In addition, an experienced associate professor should document the ability to:

  • Attract external research funding
  • Supervise PhD students
  • Read and speak a Scandinavian language (or the willingness to learn Danish)
Job description
The associate professor is expected to conduct research and to collaborate with fellow faculty members in the area of government IT, e-government, digitalization and IT project studies, and to develop interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaborations when relevant.

In particular, the associate professor is expected to collaborate with colleagues in the Research Center for Government IT.

The associate professor is expected to contribute to the IT University’s education programs, especially within the Computer Science Department and the Master in IT Management, both by giving courses and by supervising BSc and MSc theses. Furthermore, the associate professor is expected to engage with society e.g. through external collaboration; to actively participate in securing external funding; and to contribute to the IT University’s strategic goals through internal processes and committee work.

General information
The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time academics. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialisation of IT.

Salary
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

  • A numbered list of publications. The enclosed publications should be marked with an asterisk (*)
  • Documentation of pedagogical experience and teaching record within one or more of the teaching areas listed for the position
  • Preferably documentation of both a) received observation and feedback on teaching, b) pedagogical training courses as a teacher, c) a formal written assessment of teaching competence, and d) a teaching record within one or more of the teaching areas listed for the position

The applicant will be accessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation of 13 March 2012.

The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In case of shortlisting, the Chair of the hiring committee selects applicants for assessment in consultation with the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
