Associate professorship in information security

The Computer Science Department at the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) invites applications for a faculty position in information security, at the rank of associate professor. The proposed starting date is January 2020 or soon thereafter.

We invite applicants who want to contribute to ITU’s vision of creating and sharing knowledge that is profound and leads to ground-breaking information technology and services for the benefit of humanity; and more specifically contribute to the Computer Science Department's research and education, both foundational and with impact on industry and society.

The candidate
We look to hire a strong candidate holding a PhD in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field.

The candidate is expected to be able to conduct research and research-based teaching in one or more of the following areas:

  • Information security
  • Formal modelling, analysis, and verification of security aspects of systems and protocols
  • Security of embedded systems, internet of things, and standards
  • Offensive security
The ideal candidate should document:

  • Publications of research at a high international level in well-respected peer reviewed venues
  • Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well received by students
  • A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which he/she has worked, for example participation in committees, etc.
In addition, candidates for the position should be able to:

  • Attract external research funding
  • Supervise PhD students
  • Read/speak a Scandinavian language (or have the willingness to learn Danish)
Job description
The associate professor is expected to conduct research, collaborate with fellow faculty members in the area of information security, and to develop interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaborations when relevant. The associate professor is expected to contribute to ITU’s education programs, especially software development, computer science, software design, and data science, both by giving courses and by supervising BSc and MSc theses. Furthermore, the associate professor is expected to engage with society e.g. through external collaboration, and to contribute to ITU’s strategic goals through internal processes and committee work.
