Associate professorship(s) in innovation management

The Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH) at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for associate professorship positions in innovation management.

An associate professorship is a full-time permanent position. The starting date is 1 August 2021 or as agreed upon.

An associate professor’s time is divided evenly between research and teaching activities, and the successful candidate will become part of the AIROD research section.

Job description
BTECH is dedicated to excellence in business economics as well as technology-driven business development and offers study programmes in these fields.

We are looking for eminent candidates who can strengthen our research profile. A significant part of our work involves business partners, and we often perform applied research. Hence, it is paramount that the candidate conducts research on topics that are relevant to modern companies. Candidates with research activities involving industry will be preferred.

The successful applicant is expected to teach and supervise students at bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level. Our study programmes in economics and business administration include an MSc in International Business Development and a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration as well as industry-oriented training. Courses relevant for the position are taught in both Danish and English: Business Development, Business Model Development and Innovation Management.

Your qualifications
Applicants should have a strong academic background as assistant professor or equivalent. Furthermore, applicants should hold the following qualifications:

  • A proven record of strong international research, as evidenced by publications in highly reputed international journals (according to the Danish BFI list).
  • A track record of excellence in teaching on topics relevant for our study programmes.
  • A clear, well-developed and viable strategy for future high-level research.
  • A track record of good citizenship in the wider academic community combined with commitment to contributing to a vibrant work environment in our department.
  • A commitment to sharing insights and knowledge with the broader society and prioritising dialogue with practitioners.
  • A commitment to teaching that provides the students with relevant competences as well as the ability to reflect critically on business topics.
  • A willingness to engage in external research funding activities.

Applicants are encouraged to describe how their research is related to businesses and society. The description could include concrete collaborations, impact, dissemination activities, etc.

Non-Danish speakers are required to acquire a reasonable knowledge of the Danish language within three years. The department will grant time off from teaching to attend Danish courses during the first two years of employment.

A permanent employment as associate professor at Aarhus BSS requires the completion of an internally offered supervision course as well as the ‘Go Online’ course on educational IT provided by the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Aarhus BSS. If you have not completed these courses before commencement of employment, continued employment will be conditional on completion of the courses within a five-year period.

BTECH is part of Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University – a top 100 university. BTECH is located in the business-oriented and entrepreneurial city of Herning. The department excels in business and engineering disciplines and emphasises the importance of company collaborations. We have around 1,800 students and close to 100 faculty and staff. Each year, approximately 500 students are involved in company projects in more than 250 companies ranging from SMEs to leading multinationals. Our incubator Business Factory launches 15 new companies each year.

We influence society through business development and technology. For this reason, many research projects are conducted in close collaboration with industry on the basis of new data and new technologies. These projects are generously supported by ERC, H2020, the Independent Research Fund Denmark and the Danish Industry Foundation, among others.

Terms of employment
The appointment is made in accordance with the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities as well as the circular on the Collective Agreement for Academics Employed by the State (in Danish).
