BioEngineering Scientist, Polymer Surface Modification

Roskilde, Denmark

How will you make an impact?

As a Bioengineering scientist you will be responsible for proactively developing Cell Culture Plastics and you will be responsible for the identification, development, testing and analysis of cell culture surfaces generated by eg. Surface modification technologies and/or biomaterial /synthetic and biological material generated surfaces.

It is expected that you will apply knowledge of polymer sciences and cellular biology into daily activities as part of development activities and core to this is conducting experimental design, executing experiments and conducting data evaluation and conclusions. The experiments are executed by the Scientist and in collaboration with the laboratory technicians. 50% of the work will be done in the laboratory.

Furthermore, the position includes collaboration with manufacturing- and quality-departments to resolve problems, identify needs and support implementation of improvements.


What will you do?

  • Proactively drive research projects, lead internal and external cross-functional research projects, and participate as a member in new product development teams
  • Manage project plans/task according to milestones and deliverables for projects
  • Plan and execute on experiments, conduct evaluations and interpretation of results and documentation of the completed experiments
  • Investigate and implement analytical methods, involving new instrumentation and/or experimental protocols for testing new and existing products
  • Instruct laboratory technicians in relation to investigations/experiments
  • Assist in writing internal and external reports, including application notes and scientific journal articles
  • Present technical information in support of research and development efforts, technical support and Marketing

  • How will you get here?

  • Relevant degree within Bioengineering/BioMedical engineering at M.Sc level or Bachelor level with 3-5 years documented industrial experience
  • Experience with Polymer Surface modification technologies within biological applications (cell culture)
  • Experience in culturing mammalian cells
  • Experience in cell-based assays
  • Experience in product development workflow
  • Good cooperation skills and aptitude in driving a project towards the goal
  • Strong problem-solving skills, being able to identify roadblocks and suggesting alternative approaches to overcoming issues and problems
  • Ability to summarize and transform data into action plans
  • Ability to lead projects and coordinate with multiple functional areas on-site as well as between countries
  • Good at planning own work
  • Effective communication skills with ability to clearly present scientific results and conclusions
  • Proficient English in writing and verbally
  • Proficient Danish in writing and verbally
