Business Development Engineer

We are looking for a Business Development Engineer to be our new colleague in our Boiler Service department. In your role as Business Development Engineer, you will help unlock the potential of the Boiler Service organization, and you will support the business by translating business intelligence into both strategic and operational business opportunities. Every day you will add value to customers securing a future superior customer experience.

In the role as Business Development Engineer you will collaborate widely within Alfa Laval, ranging from our departments within the Boiler Service organization to other departments within Alfa Laval.

You will also support the Global Business Unit Manager with project related tasks.

You will be responsible for

  • Support the business with analysis, increase focus on our Installed Base (IB) and optimize the utilization of information already available via using data algorithms to transform this into strategic and operational business opportunities/leads
  • Develop existing reporting/information tools to be even more automated, structured and easy to use via hands-on insights in our systems and tool processes
  • Interact with customers to understand key business behaviors by listening to their inquiries and challenges
  • Proactively assist with collecting market data, extensive primary and secondary market research and forecasting market development and market potential
  • Provide the business unit with analytical scenario-based trends and market requirements within different areas of ship/vessel segments
  • Identifying new markets and looking for new growth opportunities
  • Provision of instructions and guidelines for sales
  • Preparing presentations, proposals and other sales pitches required for interaction with customers
  • Define reasons to sell and reasons to buy products, solutions etc.
  • Conduct updates on the market situation in close cooperation with our Sales Companies, and other ad hoc analysis and reports

Experience and competencies
To thrive in this job you are educated with a Bachelor or Master’s degree within Engineering, Economics, Sales or Business Development. You have some years of experience within business and data management, and a good understanding of business processes. As a person you have an analytical mindset, good commercial understanding, great communication skills, and a good understanding of engineering solutions. You enjoy managing the complexity of global product solutions, and you are proactive with natural project management and reporting capabilities. Good English skills, both written and verbally, are essential to handle this job. You shall expect approximately 10-20 travelling days per year.

The position is based in Aalborg, Denmark.
