Business Development Manager 

The position

We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager for our U.S. based team. 

Our new Business Development Manager will be responsible for strategic planning and assist in bringing products to market as well as existing products to new applications. You will be part of a small coordinated team that will work closely within nearly all areas of the HBK organization, as well as in the field. While a technical background in data acquisition or sensors would be an advantage, some domain experience in one of those disciplines is essential.

You will join our dedicated team supporting sales, marketing, and R&D within an organization that is a staple of the test and measurement industry. You will have the opportunity to work with industry leaders and the most innovative companies in the world.

Primary responsibilities 

Your daily work includes:

  • Customer-oriented activities:
  • Investigate and understand customers’ reliability analysis requirements.
  • Demonstrate an ability to present HBK’s capabilities highlighting solutions and benefits.
  • Answer technical questions regarding specific applications that are assigned as targets.
  • Provide technical responses to RFPs from existing and potential customers.
  • Utilize relationships to assist in lead development for similar customer applications
  • Internal activities:
  • Create and conduct training courses focusing on target applications.
  • Work with HBK’s marketing team to develop go-to-market strategies
  • Provide voice of the customer inputs to the R&D team to ensure the products being developed meet the current and future needs of the industry. 
  • Transition new solutions to the sales team, by providing them with the needed sales packages of technical and marketing materials.
  • General assistance activities:
  • Provide feedback to product management on future products functionality.
  • Coordinate with internal groups to bring the right solutions to the customers 
  • Professional qualifications 

  • You must hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering (preferably reliability, mechanical, aerospace, or industrial), applied mathematics, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Further, you must have 5 years of industry or engineering experience.
  • Training in strategic selling techniques is beneficial, but not required.
  • You can work from home but expect to travel to our offices or customer sites. Travel will be predominantly within North America, with the possibility of international travel periodically. 
  • You must be able to travel freely within North America to support the team and our customers.
  • You must be a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States. Applicants must not now, or in the future, require sponsorship for an employment visa. 
  • Personal skills

  • Ability to act as the interface between customers’ and company’s engineering, sales, manufacturing, and logistics functions
  • Have a long-term view, projects are often strategic in nature and can routinely spread out over seral years of development. 
  • Able to build strong relationships with key personnel (in purchasing, engineering, operations, senior management, etc.) to forge a cooperative partnership
  • Work constructively with operations, engineering, and product management teams to grow the business at selected accounts
  • This role will require strong personable skills, and extrovert will shine. 
  • Employ selling and negotiating strategies and tactics that are consistent with industry best practices, such as Strategic Selling
  • Develop and negotiate Pricing and Supply Agreements, in conjunction with marketing and management
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English, verbal, written and electronic (MS office) CRM experience an advantage
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and set and achieve goals/objectives
  • Highly self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work autonomously
