CAE Specialist

Would you like to take your technical engineering skills to the next level and learn from leading CAEexperts?

Join us to work with colleagues across the LEGO Group as you use a wide range of state-of-the-art simulation software to analyse and optimise mould and brick designs and processes. Help verify design through computer simulation.

Core Responsibilities

At our HQ in Billund, you will join a team of 11 CAE specialists (and 1 material test engineer) who support departments across the LEGO Group. Through computer simulation, you analyse and optimise the mechanical robustness of designs and production processes.

You use the results and your theoretical understanding to consult and guide element and mould developers to design parts to the right quality.

You will primarily be involved in Finite Element analysis involving non-linear material behaviour, geometric contact and/or large displacements. In addition, you may perform simulations of injection moulding processes and heat transfer. With support from your colleagues, you will:

• Execute operational simulation tasks for elements (bricks), moulds and equipment. Ensure alignment with the customer to secure consistency, timeliness, and quality of the CAE service delivered
• Contribute to continuous quality assurance, validation, and improvement of CAE simulations
• Participate in cross-functional work to identify and resolve quality challenges

Play your part in our team succeeding

The CAE department provides simulation support to the engineering development of the LEGO Group. This includes analysis of injection moulding processes as well as analysis of the mechanical robustness of both bricks and moulds. It is our goal to support the design of robust and efficient solutions in a cost-efficient manner based on digital prototypes.

You will join an international team of young CAE specialists. To us, quality is paramount as we play an important part in supporting the work that our colleagues across the LEGO Group are doing and making LEGO toys sustainable by 2030. Moreover, as pioneers in a growing field, we regard learning, curiosity and imagination as essential ingredients to success.

Do you have what it takes?

We are looking for a colleague who is ready to tackle a steep learning curve. Ideally you have a few years of experience within simulation disciplines, or you are a recent graduate within a CAE-related subject, or perhaps you are a mould designer with a strong theoretical background, who wants to make the move into the field of computer simulation.

Either way, it is crucial that you are curious, eager to learn, and not afraid to ask questions. While you initially will collaborate closely with your experienced colleagues in the beginning, it is important that you enjoy working on your own as your role will eventually become highly independent.

• You have a degree in mechanical engineering, material science, manufacturing technologies, or similar
• You bring experience in CAD and CAE software (e.g. NX, HyperWorks, LS Dyna)
• It is a plus if you have a few years of experience as a CAE engineer in the industry, but not a requirement
• It is an advantage if you have knowledge of mould construction for the injection moulding industry and have some knowledge of the injection moulding process
• You have good IT skills. Practical programming skills is an asset, but not a must
• You speak and write English fluently
