Category Manager- Surface

Part of an EMEA team, the unique purpose of our Consumer and Device Sales team in Western Europe (Iberia, Mediterranean , Benelux and Nordic clusters) is to work with ecosystem partners to build, market and sell a winning portfolio that delights customers and earns fans around the world. Powered by Microsoft Windows and Surface devices, Office and Xbox, we also seek to enable customers and partners achieve more digitally with new innovative IoT solutions and market opportunities including voice, mixed reality and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities

Win customers at key marketing and sales beats

  • Plan & execute category sales plans that maximize both market & retailer specific selling beats (Back to School/ Holiday/Retailer Beats).
  • Plan & execute manufactured marketing beats that maximize sell thru at non seasonal peaks.
  • Plan & execute world-class Surface product launches aligned to forecast & full funnel marketing support.

 Build awareness & familiarity for the Surface brand, delivering a consistent brand experience

  • Partner with local PR teams to prioritize investments and plan/ execute local, high-impact PR moments.
  • Plan & execute influencer events/ marketing moments to help draw people to the authentic Surface experience. Leverage device seeding programs to create impact.
  • Amplify existing & create new marketing moments through local partnerships.
  • Ensure delivery of coherent brand experience throughout the shopping journey both in owned (Microsoft Store) and third-party channels. Protect the brand and guard the message.

Increase Surface Purchase Intent with considerers & attract new audiences

  • Partner with local marketing teams to plan & execute local, MSFT led full-funnel demand gen campaigns via Digital, Social, Influencer, O&O & SEM.
  • Plan & execute Retailer Co-Marketing demand gen aligned to investments that drive consideration, PI, and conversion though the funnel. Determine partner key strengths and leverage agility funding to build a cohesive marketing plan across owned and retail channels.

 Win share and drive mutual profitability with compelling retail programs and offers

  • Land right device assortment by retail partner
  • Define and manage Offers strategy aligned to market, channel partners, key beats and compete
  • Measure and report on Offers performance and apply data driven insights to drive investment efficiency on an ongoing basis
  • Manage partner incentive programs to achieve strategic business goals including revenue and volume targets, driving premium mix
  • Leverage Exclusives and Variants to support co-marketing that gain unit commitment & win share
  • Leverage long-lead planning to accurately map the demand planning
  • Manage EOL inventory for product refreshes

 Optimize conversion with premium channel execution

  • Partner with local channel marketing teams to achieve the following outcomes:
    • Land the Brand Tagline narrative message in store & online
    • Drive always on in store & online marketing that drives growth, & earns fans
    • Land digital execution that is best-in-class utilizing videos, animation, & strong attach tactics
    • Accelerate Connected Storefront adoption, leveraging modern marketing tools with partners

 Drive product advocacy & consumer lifetime value

  • Optimize for cross category lifetime value through Modern Life engagement.
  • Drive Office 365 attach, engagement, & renewal. Make Surface hero device for locally run O365 campaigns & programs.
  • Drive post purchase advocacy thru onboarding CRM & customer reviews management/ monitoring

Active participation to multi sub area community

  • Active participation to team /meetings, calls, Monthly and quarterly business reviews within the multi sub area activities
  • Share and adopt best practices  
  • Own and drive cross functional projects to make other great

Experiences Required:

  • Several years Consumer Electronics/IT ecosystem experience with a focus on devices and services sales across consumer segments
  • Understanding of consumer sales channels, as well as the retail landscape and digital marketplace
  • Track record of sales delivery and execution through partner/customer obsession
  • Consumer channel management with proven business operational excellence and sales results through joint business planning, landing channel strategies, account management, and performance monitoring
  • Driving long-term sustainable sales growth with partners
  • Strong delivery on Quarterly and Annual Account Budgeted Revenue and key scorecard metrics

Skills:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and innovative thinking to identifying and executing business opportunities
  • Ability to analyze sales data, draw relevant conclusions, develop accurate business plans and forecasts, and drive execution
  • Understanding of budget, profit & loss, margin, investment, and operating expense accountability  
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholder groups and connect with diverse audiences

Strong influencing and communication skills

  • Have experience planning and executing marketing strategies and activities that drive business results while remaining true to the brand.
  • Have experience translating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) into actionable plans to accelerate or capitalize on growth opportunities.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field, or related experience. MBA a plus.
