Client SME, End User Computing

DK, Aarhus N | Professional | Full-Time | ID: 6636

Do you have a broad knowledge base covering software and client performance tools - like SCCM platform, Software OS & App patch management, Windows client operating systems, Client AD, GPO and OU structure and web browsers (Edge, Chrome, Internet Explorer) – and maybe its configuration as well?

If you are service-minded, proactive and thrive with leading in your area of expertise, then you can be the glue between our vendors ensuring the operation and support of stable and high performing clients for Vestas end users.

Global IT > User Productivity & Digital Foundation > Infrastructure Delivery & Support
Vestas Global IT - Infrastructure Delivery & Support is looking for a new Subject Matter Expert (SME) to work closely with our Service Delivery Managers (SDMs), internal Architects as well as external vendors to ensure stable and high performing clients for Vestas end users.

You will join a team of 14 colleagues mainly located in Aarhus and working with different areas of Infrastructure Operations and Support in a Multi-Vendor setup with both insourced and outsourced teams in our IT Operation; this means that you as SME must perform technical analysis, prepare recommendations and participate in solution forums together with relevant parties, and ensure resolution together with internal teams as well as our external vendors. In addition, you are ready to handle ad hoc assignments daily.

You will oversee maintenance and give input to development of End User Computing tools with specific focus on software and client tools (SCCM platform and distributions points, Software OS & App patch management, Windows client operating systems, Client AD, GPO and OU structure and browsers) to support the delivery of IT Offerings e.g. replacement, patching, upgrades, capacity extensions, clean-up and decommissioning.

Responsibilities
Your primary areas of responsibility are to:

  • PROACTIVELY lead work preventing issues from arising, which could later degrade the end user experience of the performance of clients
  • LEAD work aimed at increasing the end user adoption of the service provided (e.g. ensure updated training and knowledge articles are available and that communication is continuously provided to end users about new or changed features)
  • Drive or take part in effective execution of complex troubleshooting, resolution and operational tasks in collaboration with both primary vendors and Third-Party supplier e.g. local vendors in a large-scale, global corporate IT environment. Actively seek cooperation with other SME's and vendors to resolve issues
  • Cover as main point of escalation for all End-User Computing and client related support and operational issues
  • Contribute as necessary to ensure successful deployment activities and taking new or changed Business Services into operation
  • Ensure coordination and optimisation of the solution stack across architects and vendors
  • Act as a focal point of contact for projects and will be coordinating smooth and efficient handover from projects and into operations

Furthermore, you provide guidance and instructions to the vendor on developing and maintaining key policies and procedures needed to effectively support the Environment and support the vendor in closing any gaps there might be in optimising delivery of services. You help and support in paving the way on difficult and complex issues.

Qualifications
You probably have a degree in IT and Business or similar related education. Most importantly, you are:

  • Highly IT literate (IT drivers)
  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Understanding the set of IT Services provided by a Global IT organisation of Vestas size and the IT infrastructure technologies that supports and enables them

And ideally, you have a broad experience with:

  • Optimisation of client performance
  • Distribution tools like Microsoft SCCM platform and software distribution in general
  • Microsoft patch management tools
  • Client operating systems and OS systems, Linux, Mac OS or other, Client AD, GPO and OU structure
  • Remote desktop tools
  • Knowledge around web browsers (Edge, Chrome, Internet Explorer...) and its configuration would be a plus
  • Scripting knowledge (Powershell, VBS...) would be a plus

Competencies

Naturally to be successful in the role as Client SME, you must have a high self-driven interest in staying up to date within your domain as well as being eager to make things work because of your service-mindset. As complementary:

  • You are structured and have a methodical task approach
  • You have strong collaboration and communication skills to make an impact in being heard, understood and respected by teams, vendors and departments - recognising when to pull and push
  • You can drive and lead change with the goal in focus
  • You are good at adapting in an ever-changing environment
  • You have high quality standards and a persistency in getting to the bottom of problems
  • You are analytical and independent but also enjoy the benefits of working in a team
  • You challenge and ask questions to process and surroundings, you are reliable and with good interpersonal skills
