About the area & the Position

In the computational research area, we collaborate closely with research scientists across the R&D area to improve and accelerate target discovery, active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and drug product (DP) designs of new peptides and biologics. We have access to advanced state-of-the-art computational platform and working with a variety of biological and chemical data, including throughput assay data, omics data and image data to enhance disease understanding towards next generation of treatment and prevention products for chronic disease patients.

Your responsibility will be to work closely with scientists across our R&D sites in Denmark, China, UK and US to contribute to global bioinformatics and computational biology strategy. In particular, we expect you to drive data-driven decision making in collaboration with global and local stakeholders to contribute to various stages in early drug discovery, including identifying and validating new therapeutic targets and biomarkers from in-house and public datasets, understanding molecular profile, mode of action, progression, epigenetics signals in metabolism diseases and more. We expect you to collaborate with rest of the computational research team in in silico guidance of assay development and innovation through optimizing experiment and data analysis process for Line of Business. In addition, novel insights into complex data and the ability to investigate them in high integrative manners and perspectives would be of great value in this position. This position will also involve engaging with stakeholders across the interdisciplinary and international organization, both internally and externally.

Requirements

  • PhD in bioinformatics / computational biology / systems biology / biological sciences or equivalent, and preferably at least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry or academia.
  • Strong knowledge within one or more specific areas in biological mechanisms and target/biomarker discovery process, such as multi-omics, pathway and network analysis, genetic and epigenetics analysis, functional genomics, RWE study and so on.
  • Practical experience in applying computational biological methods on large scale and high complexity biomedical datasets such as multi-omics data and cohort dataset
  • Excellent knowledge of drug discovery process and chronic disease biology, particularly within NN core Therapeutic areas (Diabetes, Obesity, CVD, NASH, and other chronic diseases) is preferred
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience with common computational biology programming languages (e.g. Python, R, Bash) as well as package, dependency and environment management tools
  • Demonstrated scientific creativity and innovative mind-set such as good track record of publication and/or proposing new hypothesis driven research project
  • Strong networking and ability to identify and coordinate new external collaborative opportunities for computational biology
  • Experience in driving and/or leading cross-disciplinary collaboration and connections in the AI-Biopharma field are preferred
  • Desire to drive scientifically challenging problem solving in a dynamic working environment as well as ability to engage, influence and collaborate with colleagues across different scientific disciplines
