Are you the architect that will lay the data foundation for our future? And do you want to play a key entrepreneurial role in establishing our new research platforms? Then join us in a newly established position as Data Engineer in Drug Product Development (DPDev).

 

About The Team

DPDev is part of Novo Nordisk’s Research & Development (R&D) family and acts as a link between the research unit and the production, spanning from early development to phase 3 clinical trials and registration. Our ambition is to improve diabetic patients lives by developing the world's finest drug substance and injectable drug products.

The position is anchored in the team Digital Automation & Software, driving future drug product and analysis development. We aim to create a paradigm altering approach to drug development by redesigning and digitalizing the processes. The team consists of highly skilled subject matter experts with different scientific backgrounds, ranging from formulation specialists and data scientists to analytical experts. And they need you, an entrepreneurial minded data architect to establish the framework for our success.

 

The position

As Data Engineer you will be responsible for creating a strong data backbone by developing and expanding our data infrastructure. In particular, you will:

  • be integral in designing the IT architectural runway with the aim of merging data sets from a wide variety of machines and equipment in our laboratories, using scalable database-technologies.
  • establish platforms and build analytical tools to extract and transform our valuable data into key insights regarding operational efficiency and other business performance metrics so as to enable our department to make real time data driven decisions.
  • Work in close collaboration with our data scientists to understand how our data needs to be converted, stored and presented.
  • be engaged in data visualization and enablement of automated and intelligent technologies.
  • have a central role to identify opportunities to establish and improve data availability and validity.

 

This is a new job type within Novo Nordisk R&D which gives great flexibility for experimentation with new technology and you can look forward to playing a key role in shaping the future in close collaboration with other data engineers across the R&D organisation.

 

Qualifications and skills

You have:

  • Preferably a Master or PHD in e.g. computer science, software engineering or engineering
  • Programming skills: Preferably Python, other relevant languages could be SQL, C++, C, C#, or similar. Ideally you have hands on relevant work experience with data manipulation and unstructured data. Experience with Hadoop or Spark could also be an advantage
  • Database understanding and experience from working with cloud architecture such as AZURE or AWS and associate tools to build scalable machine learning systems.
  • Experience in establishing a setup from the ground is a significant advantage
  • A keen interest in machine learning and AI

  • a key interest in transforming data to insights for our data scientists and the line of business
  • solid communication skills both written and verbally
  • enjoy building novel solutions for your customers, like to drive decisions in your area of expertise, and take a pride in helping your colleagues in a pulsing and dynamic environment
  • enjoy working in an informal atmosphere where flexibility and responsibility go hand in hand
